Kiko's Korner

Loyal to the end

by Judi McLeod

March 15, 2004

There were some 4,600 mourners at the funeral of RCMP Corporal Jim Galloway, but none so heartfetching as his police dog, Cito. From rescuing lost children to facing down alleyway criminals, Galloway and Cito worked as a team.

At the sad funeral, Cito lay beside his master’s flag-draped coffin, and looked so sad as he waited during a funeral procession for his master with another RCMP officer holding his leash.

Cito was there when Corporal Galloway was felled by a bullet Feb. 28 during a standoff with an armed man.
