Global warming on Mars

SUVs on Mars?

an interesting tidbit of information emerged from NaSa’s Jet Propulsion Labs some four years ago that United Nations climatologists and the "sky-is-falling" climate change crowd has failed to acknowledge. Simply put, earth isn’t the only place in the solar system that is currently undergoing significant climate change. NaSa’s Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) Extended Mission has documented significant shrinking in the Martian ice caps at a rate of approximately 10 feet per year.

"a study of the ice caps on Mars may show that the red planet is experiencing a warming trend. If both Mars and Earth are experiencing global warming, then perhaps there is a larger phenomenon going on in the Solar System that is causing their global climates to change."–Current Science and Technology Centre

Could it be that the Martians are also hooked on fossil fuels and driving SUVs across that planet’s irregular surface?

If you buy the argument of the UN’s "acceptable" climatologists, then it would logically follow that Martians are driving gas-guzzlers and wasting precious natural resources in pursuit of cheap, hedonistic pleasures, just like we North americans. all Mars needs now is a series of category 5 hurricanes and the lunatic fringe can start a street protest outside the Martian embassy.

They are already blaming George W. Bush for Hurricane Katrina and now Hurricane Rita. The German minister of the environment went so far as to imply that the U.S. had the New Orleans disaster coming, given their refusal to sign onto the Kyoto Wealth Re-distribution Treaty.

But maybe there are other forces at work that are studiously being ignored by those who would want the world to be governed by the benign oligarchs at the UN.

Bill Coates, a writer for the St. Petersburg Times wrote a piece that ran on September 13, entitled "Storm frenzy is not an anomaly, but a phase". Citing information available from the National Oceanic and atmospheric administration, Coates shows that hurricanes actually run in cycles lasting from 20 to 30 years. Like El Nino in the Pacific, these cycles of heating and cooling in the atlantic Ocean have been going on for at least 2,000 years. The cycles include a periodic rising and falling of sea temperatures in the atlantic over a period of 65 to 70 years.

"The engine driving these cycles is called the atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation, or aMO. Scientists say it has triggered drought in the western United States while spawning hurricanes in the atlantic. Now climatologists say frenzied hurricane seasons will be a fact of life for the next 10 to 20 years, part of a lengthy cycle of stormy eras followed by calmer ones. Records show the aMO was cool from 1900-1925, warm from 1926-1969, cool from 1970-1994 and warm since 1995." Coates wrote.

apparently the aMO is also responsible for droughts in the western U.S. of which there is currently a doozy. If the timelines quoted by Coates are accurate, then the "dust bowl" of the 1930s falls in line as being caused by aMO.

However, discoveries that are contrary to conventional beliefs will remain largely unacknowledged because of the Leftist agenda. There is a huge difference between fact and belief. The former is irrefutable, while the latter assumes mystical status.

Environmentalism has become a religion with priests, acolytes and believers. and while many so-called environmentalists claim to be atheists, their belief structure is mystical and religious in nature, as it assumes that at one point in the distant past the environment was perfectly pristine (the Garden of Eden) and that man has ruined it since appearing on the planet (evil). Some environmentalists go so far as to call earth Gaia, meaning the mother and sustainer of all life. There is an entire movement devoted to the worship of Gaia. Now if that isn’t "religious" I’ll sell my SUV and walk.

Humanity, however loosely it may be defined, has become too gullible. We accept at face value everything that authority bestows on us, including junk science. It’s time that people started asking serious questions about the cause of climate change. If other planets in the solar system are experiencing climate change as well, then surely The americans can’t be held responsible. Or are the Martians really driving SUVs?
