Nancy Pelosi, Democrats, the new direction

Down periscope

The headlines are full of Democrats, since their overwhelming electoral victory, telling us that it's time for a new direction, with this darling phrase emanating from Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and far beyond, endlessly.

as recently as Wednesday, Speaker Pelosi, in her nomination of Congressman-elect Peter Welch of Vermont to the House Committee on Rules, gushed, “House Democrats have an ambitious agenda for taking our nation in a new direction and we need leaders like Peter to help guide that change.” Indeed.

But wait a minute, which new direction is the fully primped out cerebral left coast Temptress in Prada intent on taking america? Beyond the obvious political one, of course, with sworn allegiance to Marx, Castro, the vacuous teachings of annan, retreat and appeasement, what does Nancy mean?

Let me flesh out an e-mail I received from a business school pal.

The stock market is at an all time high, with some 60 percent of americans holding some or all of their investments there.

What kind of changes does Nancy have in mind for this engine of prosperity, besides calling it an instrument of the rich and damning those who depend on its positive returns? Better kill it with taxes, regulations, and lengthy investigations.

Unemployment is at a 25 year low, hovering around 4.5 percent depending on a few seasonal breaks.

How can Nancy and the new Democrats foul this up? Why, by raising business taxes and voting in their centerpiece – the new minimum wage, among their other centerpieces of attack, which will help curdle small business, the engine of progress.

Oil prices are down a buck and the hurriedly decamping Republican Congress just voted to renew drilling for new reserves to steady our supply in the face of the growing number of nuclear armed madmen threatening our extinction.

But hang on, the new Democrats will halt this program again, being in league with the Luddite minded greens, al Gore, the far left kooks, and all, leaving us ready to be victimized again by the oil sheikhs, the terror states, and global interruptions.

Our federal tax bills are at 20-year lows. How soon will the new Democrats decide to change this direction? I mean, really!

Meanwhile, federal revenues are at all time highs. What kind of change will a new direction mean here? and a new direction will mean down, won't it?

The federal deficit, a key new Democrat whipping boy for years, is dropping like a stone, down over 50%, thanks to the enhanced federal revenue stream resulting from lower rates of taxation and available cash for investment. How fast can this indicator go north when the new Democrats increase taxes on corporations, plain folk, and squeeze every last nickel from the big tax suppliers like big oil, ruining their favorable profit structure?

Sure overall home sales have slowed a bit, but their valuations are up over 100% over the past three and a half years. Isn't it time to finally put the housing market in the tank with higher taxes, higher interest, and more costly fuel prices? That'll show those dreadful Republicans who own their own homes, to say nothing of the working poor, who own more houses today than ever before.

Inflation is creeping along, between two and three percent, which amounts to 20-year lows, despite the hiccups in the oil market due to the machinations of the mad mullahs, whose nuclear ambitions Pelosi & Co. LLC, refuse to recognize as a real honest to goodness threat.

america hasn't had a major terrorist attack since 9/11, for chrissakes.

and isn't it about time to change directions here, with the plans to can the NSa big ears, jump all over the Patriot act, appease militant Islam, turn our backs on Israel, genuflect in front of the bloodthirsty mullahs, run for the trenches rather than join battle, and by listening to the lukewarm rehashed pap being ladled around Washington, D.C. by a haughty Jim Baker III, Lee Hamilton and the rest of their boyos, coat holders, big names – all has beens, cranks, and misfits. Yes, and great soaring intellects like the brilliant Leon Panetta and the loquacious Madeleine albright.

Despite the sad final collapse of the Republican leadership, the failure of Bill Frist and Dennis Hastert to toe any sort of a budget line and provide any noticeable, palpable, and meaningful authority and administration, and the disappearance of many Republicans from the November polling places, the many positive and unique bases for the ongoing economic growth were provided by President Bush and the Republican congress.

The many successful measures taken by the President, Secretary Rumsfeld, the Pentagon, the CIa and the FBI, completed despite an unparalleled attacks from the Democratic Party, big media, contorted journalists, damaging leakers, an unbroken string of damaging spies and traitors, technology transfers authorized by the Clintons and designed to strengthen our enemies, and an utter lack of effective investigations in any problem area provided by alberto Gonzales, america has prevailed thus far in the global war on Islamo-fascism.

But success is fleeting, victory means defeat, and it's time for November's churlish progressive children to begin dismantling the offices, programs, favorable tax plans, NSa listening posts, effective elements of the Patriot act, the US Navy, ballistic missile defense, and all the positive elements bequeathed them.

Just as it is now time again to continue the construction on their socialist utopia by transferring wealth from the top down, burdening the middle class with more onerous taxes, investigating everything, subjecting every successful investment house to the Spitzer once over, and every company they can identify with wealth generation, eliminating tax breaks for those who make any money at all, while advocating their precious social programs.

after all, the new Democrats are really the party of choice. and they will choose to destroy anything viewed as a positive factor in the war on terror and for the accumulation of wealth by anyone outside of government, the new Democratic Party, and the Soros and Clinton families.

January, regardless of the outside temperature, is going to be mighty cold.
