Forget Fonda's past, but send message she least wants to hear on March 17th

Thursday, March 1, 2007

It's not Jane Fonda's shameful past that patriots should worry about. It's the very near future of March 17, 2007.

A chain letter, about Hanoi Jane, "A Traitor is About to be Honored", is once again circulating the Internet.

It was back in 1999 when Jane Fonda was honored as one of the "100 Women of the Century", courtesy of the Ladies Home Journal.

It was during a 1972 trip to North Vietnam when Ms. Fonda propagandized on behalf of the North Vietnamese government, declared that American POWs were being treated humanely and condemned U.S. soldiers as "war criminals", later denouncing them as liars for claiming they had been tortured.

True, says urban legend buster www.Snopes.com.

Back to the near future: Jane Fonda, along with Cindy Sheehan and Ramsey Clark will lead a giant anti-war protest in Washington, D.C. -- disgracing the war memorials there as they march to the Pentagon on March 17. The 4th anniversary of the commencement of Operation Freedom in Iraq will be celebrated this month, and the event is being billed as the "Mother of all Protests".

The Fonda-Sheehan-Clark contingent is on a roll. Their buds the Dems control congress. Anti-American sentiment flourishes around the globe. Anti-war activists continue to tarnish the image of American troops as one of protectors to one of war mongerers.

And perhaps most tragically of all, war memorials are being desecrated and although mercifully such incidents have been isolated ones, returning Iraq veterans in uniform have been spit at.

It is in this scenario that Fonda is marching militantly to Washington.

But this time Fonda and her comrades in arms plan to begin their march at the Vietnam wall.

"...Fifty-eight thousand names cried out in protest and America heard the call of her fallen," wrote Kit Jarrell in Euphoric Reality. Gathering Eagles will be there on the 17th "to deliver a message to the flower children, 40 years overdue."

The Gathering of Eagles is an impromptu coalition of veterans' groups, pro-military organizations and Internet activists.

"We are a non-violent, non-confrontational group. We look to defend, not attack. Our focus is guarding our memorials and their grounds," they explain. "By defending and honoring these sacred places, we defend and honor those whose blood gave all of us the right to speak as freely as our minds think."

The spilled blood of the fallen soldier won't stop anti-war activists with ANSWER and Code Pink from calling for the immediate withdrawal of America's troop from Iraq, the destruction of America's "global military machine", the shutdown of the enemy combatant detention facilities at Guantanamo Bay and the usual destabilizing battle cry for the impeachment of President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

It is the same blood of fallen soldiers that give Fonda, Sheehan, Clark and the usual suspects from Hollywood the right to shout slogans, while hiding behind the convenience of their fashionista sunshades.

Less fashionable, war veterans, some still suffering from wounds will stand proud and tall.

Last time the anti-war activists converged on Washington, they broke through a Capitol Hill police security cordon, spraypainted the Capitol grounds, desecrated the Lone sailor statue that stands watch at the U.S. Navy Memorial, and reportedly spat at disabled Iraq-war veteran Josh Sparling as he voiced his support for his fellow troops.

The best thing about the March 17th protest, is that Small Town America will be standing shoulder to shoulder with veterans from groups like The Gathering of Eagles, the Nam Knights, Rolling Thunder, the POW/MIA, and veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

One week from today, the caravan of Move America Forward (MAF) will leave San Francisco for Washington.

The caravan will be stopping in towns and cities along the way, and you can follow its progress by clicking on to www.MoveAmericaForward.com.

The caravan will be bringing thousands of flags, homemade and store bought to Washington. The flags will make an ocean of red, white and blue in Washington. MAF promises that the flags will be sent to the troops in Iraq with a strong message from their homeland when the protest is over.

This is a message of pride that has been some 40 years in the making.

America and freedom-loving people everywhere respect the troops who fight for our freedom.

Meanwhile, Jane Fonda doesn't need you to wreck a past that she won't ever be allowed to forget. But you can give her the message she least wants to hear on by being there on February 17th taking the most symbolic stand possible for America's courageous troops.

Make a chain letter in Washington on March 17th, a human chain letter by your presence.
