Democrats keep trial lawyers happy, ignore our best interests

Presently, almost 25 percent of all cost associated with health care, doctors, hospitals, medications, etc., are "legal cost" related. We need "leash laws for lawyers" before we can realistically expect to have any kind of effective national health care program.

Question: What does every country with a national health care system have that we don't have? Answer: Its "loser pays tort reforms and medical malpractice damage award" caps. "Loser pays" means that if you sue someone and you lose, you pay their legal fees.

This would stop the vast majority of frivolous lawsuits once these sleazy lawyers learn they can't extort a settlement by running up the fee meter for the defendants. As long as the Democratic Party is in the pocket of the ambulance-chasing trial lawyers, there will be no affordable health care.

It's not our health care system (the world's best), it's our legal system (the world's worst) that needs to be fixed.

Part of the problem is that more than a quarter of our congressmen and almost two-thirds of the U.S. Senate are themselves lawyers. Until Americans wake up to the fact that lawyers like Russ Feingold, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards (he made his millions suing the medical industry) are members of the U.S. Senate, they will keep blocking any meaningful tort reforms and we, our medical system, our manufacturing industry and our national security will be at the mercy of these greedy litigators.

Maybe "Sicko" Michael Moore or Al Gore should read the climate report from the Institute for Legal Reform and make a movie telling the real "truth" about legal extortion and what these frivolous lawsuits costs our national economy.

Check out www.Institutefor LegalReform.com and call your lawmakers, both state and national, and tell them they need to put a leash on the lawyers now. Presently, Rudy Giuliani is the only person running for president who is willing to address this issue; he gets my vote.
