So sorry, this in not a political column today. The beanzare not Bush family money, or a sly reference to the IQof some family members, which could use a little shoringup at the moment.
But this is about the Bush family. The Bush family that isin the bean business. Chili beans, Garbanzo beans, KidneyBeans, Pinto Beans, Pork and Beans, Blackeye Peas,Great Northern Beans, Green Beans, Hominny, LimaBeans, Southern Peas, Spinach, and other greens.
I like their ads, and here's why.
1) They proclaim they are numero uno, el supremotoadicus, number one with a bullet, and they do it ina very unassuming and friendly way.
2) Their ads, which feauture a dog that is on the lookoutthe sell the family recipe is very clever, and never failsto make me laugh.
3) I'm not a big bean eater, and they got me to buy someof their baked beans.
4) Their beans are pretty damn good.
I like the words in the print ad, and on television.
"Thatz because we use our secret family recipe and slowcook our beans the old fashioned way."
"So they have a real baked in taste that wins the highest praise."
I was at a family pic-a-nic last weekend, hamburgers, hot dogs, tater salad, baked beans, and as the kids all lined up to hit thechow line, one of the kids asked, "Are the beans Bush's Beanz?"
I stopped and asked him about Bush's Beans. "They're the best,"he said.
"Why is that?" I said.
"Because it's an old family recipe, and they're slow cooked," hesaid.
That's a very powerful ad, and it really isn't aimed at younger people.
Kudos to this branch of the Bush family, they know how to run abusiness.
