Please sign the petition to let Cuban citizen Edgar López reunite with his family in the US. The denial by the Castro regime stems from his membership in a dissident group that does not toe the line of the communist party. This is only one case among thousands of evidences that cast bad omen to Obama’s new policy of constructive engagement with Raúl Castro.

It should be noted that Castro’s Cuba currently holds a seat as a member of the UN Human Rights Council, position that uses to trample on human rights and targeting democracies like Israel’s, which the antidemocratic coalition accuses of practicing apartheid. While this false accusations go on and on at the UN, the totality of Cuba’s population is deprived of basic rights like freedom of speech, freedom of movement and freedom of association.

Starting last week April 14, Edgar declared himself in a hunger strike. That’s the way he found to protest against a regime that routinely exerts the use of blackmail by taking the relatives of “counterrevolutionaries elements” as political hostages, in order to break the will of the dissident movement.

Edgar’s wife will discuss his case in Channel 41 of South Florida TV. For further information regarding this case and the content of the blog, contact Veronica Cervera at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
