Standards of decency lacking in Obama administration

Marine Lt. Colonel Jeffery ChessaniIt becomes more evident with each passing day that the leftist movement to socialistic communism in the United States will stop at nothing to gain total control of our lives. This movement, fathered by billionaire George Soros, the anti-American, Christian-hating, United Nations loving bankroller for Obama, will not stop until ALL American citizens are firmly under his thumb.

Soros aspires to make America, the country where he made the bulk of his sizeable multi-billion dollar empire, into one of his beloved socio/communist dream sites like Russia, China or any other oppressed nation. However, it is so ironic as he could never have accumulated that much wealth in any socialist/communist country that redistributes the wealth preventing the presence of any rich people. But now he has his money safely stashed away in offshore financial institutions where the U. S. government can’t touch it; just the same way Ted Kennedy has shipped his mega-millions out of the country to keep from having it redistributed to the Obama minions and voters. But that is not the main issue of indecency I have in mind for today’s spiel. No, as despicable these two incidents may seem, what I want to discuss is something that almost makes the air blue with pure disgust. Excessive wealth has little to do with it; only honor, or the lack of it. This story begins back in 2005 over in Iraq where a small unit of U. S. Marines were ambushed by a larger force of insurgent terrorists in Haditha while under the command of Marine Lt. Colonel Jeffery Chessani in one of those infamous urban, house-to-house battles where the terrorists were hidden amongst the villagers in their homes. The ambush killed one Marine and wounded two others Incidentally this was the site and the battle that proved what a lying, treacherous traitor a former Marine Colonel named John Murtha was when he betrayed the Marines by calling them murderers for doing what they were sent over there to do: win a war. Probably the first and only time in the illustrious history of the Marine Corps that ANY officer had become a Benedict Arnold to his former troops. The Marines immediately received additional hostile fire from the ambushing terrorists, who were shooting from nearby civilian-occupied homes. During the course of this battle, the Marines had to go through all of the housing units, room by room, to clear out the insurgents. And as they frequently did, the enemy made themselves appear to be home-loving residents instead of the mercenary killers that they really were. Only these ‘pretend’ residents carried and used deadly weapons on the approaching Marines. The losses to the Marines were minimal, but the enemy casualties amounted to nine insurgents and 15 civilians killed. The battle actions were considered to have been totally necessary to secure the area for the other Iraqi families living there and well as for the protection of the U. S. Marines assigned to that sector. Colonel Chessani, as required by military directives, reported the action and deaths of the 15 civilians to his chain of command. Use of civilians as human shields is a relatively common practice with terrorists. All of Chessani’s superior officers commended him for his actions agreeing he had taken the proper steps to remedy the situation and no further investigation was considered necessary. Several months later Time magazine, owned by the ultra-liberal New York Times Company published an article of the action and called the Marines out for “committing a massacre” which was later proven to be false. Lt. Col. Chessani was commended for his actions and had the approval of his reviewing General for the handling of that battle. Our own United States government, not the Marine Corps commanding levels, brought criminal charges against Colonel Chessani and were determined to destroy this brave and faithful career Marine officer who had loyally served his country for over 20 years, just to satisfy the ultra-liberal, military-hating Time magazine. As a result of the traitorous actions of the then U. S. Congressman John Murtha, intense political pressure was put on the military to investigate the incident. A large number of investigators were assigned to conduct a year-long, multi-million dollar investigation focused on Jeffrey Chessani and his four enlisted men. The U. S. Army conducted two independent investigations of the Marines and both investigations concluded: there was no massacre and no cover-up. The Thomas More Law Center, a non-profit, IRS 501 (c)(3) organization of Ann Arbor, MI stepped up to take charge of Lt Col Chessani’s defense at no charge to him or the Marine Corps and had this to say: “It’s mind-boggling that our government is sparing no expense to convict one of the most effective combat officers in Iraq on trumped-up charges. “Lt. Col. Paul Ware, USMC, a judicial officer who heard testimony in several cases involving the November 19th Haditha incident, had this to say about the criminal charges: "To believe the government version of facts is to disregard clear and convincing evidence to the contrary and sets a dangerous precedent that, in my opinion, may encourage others to bear false witness against Marines as a tactic to erode public support of the Marine Corps and mission in Iraq. Even more dangerous is the potential that a Marine may hesitate at the critical moment when facing the enemy... " “The four Marines involved in the November 19th incident were members of the battalion commanded by Lt. Col. Chessani - the *3rd Battalion, 1st Marines - one of the most decorated units in the Marine Corps. “Lt. Col. Chessani is charged with failing to accurately report and investigate that incident. He faces dismissal from the Marines Corps, loss of all retirement benefits, and up to 2 1/2 years in prison.“ (*The 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines was the very first infantry unit yours truly was assigned to during WWII, seeing combat in Aug-Dec. 1942 against Japan in the South Pacific and knows well of the decorations received by that illustrious unit.) The U. S. Marine Corps is one of the world’s most elite fighting forces, outstanding because of leadership from men like Lt Col Chessani. In just March of this year of 2009, a 3-judge panel of Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals unanimously vindicated the ruling by Colonel Steven A. Folsom, USMC, dismissing all charges against Lt. Col Chessani on the grounds of Unlawful Command Influence. The government lawyers appealed that decision and the higher courts refused to hear their case. But that didn’t stop them and now they are trying to get another trial held and will probably continue to do so until they get the verdict of guilty they’re looking for; and all at taxpayer expense mind you. President Obama and his Attorney General have both displayed acts of disdain and outright dissidence against our military forces except in those cases where some great photo opportunities have presented themselves. But to say that both of those individuals strongly disapprove of the military forces would not be far from the truth. By allowing this political charade against a brave and loyal American fighting man such as Lt Col Chessani to continue is an outright abuse of office and a terrible waste of taxpayer dollars. Not to mention the effects such a travesty will have on retention of our military members when they realize their government is against them. Call off your dogs, Mr. President and let justice be served.
