Why Moderate Muslim Nations Should Be Supporting NATO Forces In Afghanistan

The attacks on 9/11 by Radical Islam cells under the guise of al-Qaeda immersed us in a war between Moderate Islam (MI) and Radical Islam (RI) that was not ever fully appreciated by the Bush Administration and,  certainly, not the Obama Administration today.  Their desire to reach out and appease Moderate Islam rather than hold them accountable for Radical Islam’s conduct and make them play a role in defeating it is unacceptable. We will not defeat Radical Islam until Moderate Islam plays the key role in defeating this hideous evil ideology that bears no resemblance to a religion. It is an ideology that is as evil as Nazism, Fascism and Communism.

We are in a Global War Against Radical Islam (GWARI) yet the current Commander-in-Chief and his key advisors do not want to acknowledge this is a war, even though we had over forty Americans killed in action last month in Afghanistan and a total of seventy coalition troops. The world must acknowledge it to include the moderate Islamic population. Pakistan has finally entered the fight against Radical Islam but only after the Administration put a great deal of pressure on them and Pakistan, a Moderate Islamic state, realized Radical Islam was going to destroy them and attain control of their nuclear weapons.

General McCrystal our US and Allied Commander in Afghanistan briefed NATO and is in the process of briefing the Obama Administration this week. Will this President snatch” Victory from the Jaws of Defeat” or vice versa because he has clearly sent General McCrystal signals not to ask for considerably more troops. Our moderate Muslim Allies offer us a solution in forces and dollars. Lets use the skills of this brilliant President who should understand that this is a fight against Radical Islam better than any previous President because of his unique background.

In recent year, the Radicals in the form of the Taliban have re-emerged in Afghanistan and grown far stronger in Pakistan where observers say there is deliberate co-ordination between different Taliban factions and other Radical Islamist groups. The main Pakistani faction had been led by Baitullah Mehsud (who was killed on 3 Aug by a covert drone attack) - whose Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is responsible for dozens of suicide bombings and attacks in Pakistan as well as Afghanistan and India.

Now, Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei called on Muslim nations around the world to unite militarily in response to the imminent coming of Islam’s messianic savior – the Mahdi.
Khamenei specifically beckoned the nations of Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan and Afghanistan to join together with Iran in preparation for the Mahdi’s coming in the near future
The purpose of uniting now, a report in Al Arabiya explained, is to fight Israel and the U.S. – seen as the two greatest obstacles to the coming of the Mahdi and the age of Islamic “justice” that would ensue.

“We have to train honest forces that can stop the obstacles that may hinder the coming of the Mahdi like the United States and Israel,” Saeedi stated. Saeedi also emphasized that the Iranian revolutionary guard possessed a special religious authority to prepare the way for the Mahdi. Radical Islam continues to pursue a global Caliphate and destruction of moderate Islamic governments.

Nations like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordon, UAE, Kuwait and Indonesia know and realize that Iran and Radical Islamists are a great threat to their stability and future. But they are barely participating as more Muslims are dying each day, particularly, in Afghanistan and elsewhere as we have seen in Baghdad . It is obvious to the world that the moderate Nations in the Middle East are not providing military forces in Afghanistan to fight the Taliban and Al Qaeda . Radical Islam threatens Islam itself.

A precedent was set in Desert Storm in the 1990s when Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kuwait, Egypt, Turkey joined the international forces. It is in the best interests of Middle East Governments to have stability in the region and that is why we need Muslim troops in Afghanistan under ISAF. Pakistan is now fighting the Taliban and Al Qaeda so why not others?? Their participation will bring victory over Radical Islam much quicker. Their lack of participation reflects tacit approval of Radical Islam and support that is dangerous for the Middle East and the world.

The Global War against Radical Islam will wither if the Mullahs in Mecca and Medina announce a “Fatwa” against the evils of Radical Islam. Today danger of nuclear attacks against Israel, Europe, India and the United States is very high.  The Obama Administration likes to reflect that the US is receiving more international cooperation with their new approach but that is not happening. So, Mr. President, provide a challenge to those nations to develop and execute a plan of international commitment to join and defeat the Taliban and Al Qaeda and Radical Islam in Afghanistan and globally. General McCrystal and our forces deserve nothing less.
