The running narrative, being recited by partisan hacks and pundits alike, is that Rush Limbaugh doesn’t deserve to own an NFL team because he’s made racist statements including, “Slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back. I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.”
This “quote” should be very easy to find, delivered by Rush, online either in print or audio from a podcast. The problem is, the only place you can find this quote is on the CNN, MSNBC, and Wikipedia (unsubstantiated) websites.
CNN and MSNBC must immediately and publicly source when Limbaugh uttered this phrase. He has unequivocally denied it. Now it is up to the same news media that reported it as fact to prove that it was, indeed, stated.
Either Rush Limbaugh is lying or these networks – willfully or not – are participants in the worst form of character assassination imaginable. They can prove their innocence by documenting this accusation. If they can’t, then they are 100% guilty of character assassination.—Brent Bozell, MRC President
Let’s see if the “superior” media, complete with their experienced editors and “filters”, can prove they are the professionals they claim to be, and reveal their charges of Rush Limbaugh hate speech. If not, they should acknowledge they all pulled it from the usual source… out their #####.
And this so-called Pulitzer Prize writer quotes a website for finding racist Rush quotes for her credible attribution (Journalism 1.01). She had better find herself a good lawyer…
BTW—Wikipedia seems to now be in CYA mode, which essentially leaves the MEDIA swinging in the wind.
