Tourists beware! Do not rent a car in Cuba! But why bother going when there are better places? More democratic. Decent. Indeed, it is a communist country, ruled by a dictator, regardless what the tourist agents and the Cuban public relations tell you.

Today, I turned on the car radio and listened to talk radio guest host Roy Green on 640 AM, (Charles Adler’s program) speak about Cody Lecompte being detained in a hotel room in Cuba since April, because of a car accident. A truck driver broadsided his rental car and injured a few people.

Danette LeCompte, mother of 19-year-old Cody LeCompte of Simcoe, Ont., says she received the news her son will have to stand trial from the family’s Sunwing travel representative Thursday night.
