Watching Baby as prime entertainment. He never disappoints
Watching baby lifts the soul
Baby is with us these two weeks while his baby sitter gets back on health track after having her own recent birth.
Grandbaby is such a boon to my wife and me. I am 71 and Priscilla is 70. So we are ripe for looking after this little one from Springfield, Massachusetts.
His Mom works out of their home. His Dad is in full-time academic studies for his Masters degree. Therefore, it is quite convenient for Priscilla and me to step in as “sitters.”
Though we are four hours from Baby Grant Michael Wray’s parents, we are in touch by phone twice or more times a day.
Yesterday morning was my turn to give Baby his bath. And the night before, when he awoke from what must have been a bad dream (nightmare?), I crawled in bed alongside him for the rest of the sleep.
During that perfect breezy summer day, I sat next to our picnic table reading through a stack of magazines I had stored up for such a day. And Baby played. But I concluded it was time for not one dime-store toy to engage his attention. Instead, Baby found friends with twigs, leaves, and rocks. That went on for several hours.
This morning I have decided we are doing to ditto yesterday since it all went so well. I have yet to hear any complaints from Baby.
He likes apples. And so when he gets the yen to bite into something, it is usually starting out with an apple. He also, of course, enjoys a fist full of Cheerios.
Last evening we had some friends visit us. So we sat outside on lawn chairs watching Baby as prime entertainment. He never disappoints.
This evening we have invited son-in-law from Hiram, Maine, to join us for the evening meal since his wife (and our older daughter) is visiting friends in Canada for several days. We plan a roast beef dinner at the picnic table. Am sure all will go just fine since we have a duplicated breezy sunny day like Tuesday.
It is a delight for grandparents to be near their grandchildren. God has blessed us so abundantly with these gifts—ranging in ages from two to seventeen. So we have our full range of grandchildren activities.
We are quite grateful for the opportunity to look on as these youngsters mature. And we are especially thankful for their caring parents who add joy to our lives as well.
