Obama Justice Dept. Denies Military Vote, Blames GOP
The head of the Obama Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, Tom Perez, admitted this week that he has no real intention of trying to assure that members of our military are afforded their right to vote, and will not attempt in a timely fashion to enforce the MOVE Act (Military and Overseas Voter Empower Act) intended to make sure that our soldiers get their ballots with time enough to return them so that they can be counted on election day. Perez made a very weak pledge that the Dept. of Justice would, “continue to vigilantly enforce [the] law” to make sure the military votes are counted, but he made it clear that all he is prepared to do is sue states long after the November 2 elections are over. In other words, Perez is saying that the DOJ will sue states after the election, long after the votes go uncounted and our soldier’s votes are essentially taken away from them.
It is a typical Democrat bait-and-switch operation. Perez is putting on airs, acting as if he’s is seriously trying to enforce the law, but his actions will come too late, hitting after that “enforcement” will do any good at all.
Then Perez outrageously tried to blame the Illinois GOP for being the ones acting in bad faith.
Earlier this month when it was discovered that many counties in the Land of Lincoln had not bothered to send out the ballots on time to soldiers overseas, the Illinois GOP filed a suit to try and give the soldier’s more time to get their ballots back. Perez scolded that this effort to assure that our soldier’s votes counted was an evil “quite literally unprecedented in our nation’s history.”
So, according to Perez, Democrats not sending out ballots to the military is nothing to get all excited about, but the GOP’s effort to give the military a few days more to get their votes mailed back in is a crime beyond the pale?
Worse, the partisan Perez tried to claim that the GOP was trying to steal the election.
Perez said such sentiments amount to, “I want to wait and see who won, and then I’ll cast my ballot” or “I want to wait and see if it’s a close election, and then I’ll cast my ballot.” He said Republicans in Illinois sought “a new paradigm” that is not even legal.
Perez is an Obama appointee and his nomination was held up in the Senate during the controversy over Obama’s dismissal of the voter intimidation perpetrated by thug members of the New Black Panthers in 2008. Perez is also a big supporter of “rights” for illegal aliens.
This is the sort of disenfranchisement of our military and subsequent support for those who have neither been born here nor earned the right to vote that the Obama administration has tried to pursue.
