A candid conversation about immigration in America

For years, I have spoken and written about the dire consequences of illegal immigration.

Regrettably, I must now include legal immigration as a contributor to the de-Americanization of the United States. Before my critics engage their microwave mouthpieces and accuse me of being America’s #1 xenophobe and Klan wannabe, allow me the opportunity to lay out my argument that ALL immigration, in its present form, is blurring America into an unrecognizable Third World country. Initiated by the misguided George Bush Administration and aggressively continued by the highly politicized and corrupt Obama presidency, legal immigration has morphed into a voter registration booth/orientation center for the Democratic Party. Since the year 2000, immigration in the United States has numbered approximately 1,000,000 per annum. From 2000-2005, 8 million immigrants came to the United States, almost ½ illegally as reported in a December 12, 2005 article printed in both the Washington Times and USA Today. The following year another 1.27 million immigrants were granted legal residence. Since 1998, Mexico has been the leading exporter of human traffic coming to America, both legal and illegal. Rule of law or unlawful immigration is virtually identical. The immigrant is poor, un-educated and brings little, if any, skills to America.

Factually stated, a huge percentage (66%) of legal immigrants has come to the United States as a result of family reunification, according to the International Migration Report issued by the United Nations, October 30, 2009. Another 17% are legally here as a result of humanitarianism. Only 13% of legal permanent residents have come here as a result of a needed skill beneficial to America. Eighty-three percent of all legal immigration is for family reunification or humanitarian reasons. These folks are all using the food stamp and welfare system as is legally allowed. American taxpayers are footing the bill. The format of legal immigration became compromised after 1965 when Congress passed and President Lyndon Johnson signed into law the Immigration and Nationality Act, championed by Senator Edward M. Kennedy. In that legislation the quotas on large segments of the immigration population were greatly relaxed and the flow of legal immigration suddenly surged. This moment can be clearly identified as the genesis of illegal immigration. In 2006, the number of legal immigrants totaled 37.5 million, again coming in at the rate of about 1,000,000 per year. The number of illegal immigrants may come close to the number of legal immigrants When researchers and writers like me bring these sobering statistics to the average person’s attention, it is often met with a “deer in the headlights” look or a futile comment such as, “Well, it’s too late to change it. Get used to it.” No, I’m afraid I can’t get used to it. I am simply unable to witness the culture of my country disappearing in front of my eyes into something unrecognizable. I, and millions like me, must speak up. Legal or illegal immigration is America’s Achilles heel. Today, there is virtually no difference between the two entities as long as the occupier of the White House continues to see immigrants as future voters rather than future Americans. The result of America’s immigration policy of 2012 will be drastic and dire to anyone with a memory of America’s greatness. Twenty-first century historians will re-write America’s past with a decidedly different slant as chronicled by 19th and 20th Century historians. Pop Culture mentality will prevail. One can expect the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States to fade away like the end of a '60’s rockn’roll song. One can also anticipate the Star Spangled Banner, already an object of mock and disrespect by many at America’s sports events, will also suffer a similar fate. And , of course, our Flag itself; one can expect America’s future “citizen” will have less and less measure for the Red, White, and Blue. Continued implementation of America’s current immigration policy will re-amend the Bill of Rights and the Constitution which will leave no thinking or wisdom remaining from our Founding Fathers. Economically, America’s wages and benefits will continue to depress. The Brookings Institute finds a near 2 ½ % slump of wages as a result of all migration from 1980-2007. The Center for Immigration Studies finds the depression at 3.7% from 1980-2000. Being the eternal optimist, I do see a way out and remain hopeful, wiser and brighter minds than I have pondered America’s future. It all starts in the family. Both parents and our schools will need to teach the values and ethics of our Judeo-Christian roots. It is my most profound hope the 45th president of the United States, when he is inaugurated January 20, 2013, will lasso the Department of Homeland Security and implement a change of culture. Legal immigration will be re-evaluated to meet the needs of the American citizen while not compromising American citizens’ ability to find suitable employment or deteriorate American citizens’ lifestyle. And most importantly, our new president will once and for all all secure the border! Will that happen? Can it happen.? Time will reveal that answer. I pray, yes. Incidentally, as a Son of Abraham and the grandson of legal immigrants from Russia, I would be persona non grata by the almost non-existent Ku Klux Klan. More importantly, the KKK does not represent my thinking, not a molecule of it.
