Oil Independence, America: One Last Chance

Americans need to now now, before the election, what is at stake with energy prices.
We all need to do a little research to find out about fact and myth: the Myth of Peak Oil and the Fact of Bakken and ANWR. Learn about the land [topography] of the massive Bakken Oil Fields that are turning Montana & North Dakota into America's Energy Independence Salvation [even more prolific than ANWR] and at least 25 times bigger than originally thought. That drilling is all on private land in ND, as opposed to ANWR. So, I suggest we switch focus away from ANWR and make the Bakken the issue. Drilling is already going "gangbusters" in the Bakken. My Canadian readers already know all about the "Bakken Blessing," which also extends significantly into Southern Saskatchewan. The Bakken Oil Fields also comprise much of the land Keystone Pipeline would traverse. This is not rocket science. Once the oil "landsmen" can pick up leases or sales contracts to cross private as opposed to pubic lands, the remaining obstacles will be cured . The final step is to throw "Obama the Magnificent" out of office for incompetence, mal-governance, and lack of common sense.

There are many reasons, as I understand it, that we are paying higher prices for gas today [especially during this mild winter with an abundant supply of oil]. The total picture should make everybody angry, even Democrats who keep voting those ignorant Marxists into office. If you have listened to economic commentator Lou Dobbs and others recently you may have heard these points being made:
  • This year overseas oil is in surplus. The contracts for this energy raw commodity were made well in advance, with expectations of a winter like last year and past averages. You would think that prices would drop. But, not so fast, my friend.
  • Other markets are begging for energy. So, these excess oil supplies are being refined in the USA and then shipped, and sold overseas in Asian markets [and elsewhere] on the margin by oil companies in compliance with existing US Trade laws.
  • This global trade reality. It is part of the price we American consumers pay for depending on trade globalization. We have energy dependence on Arab & Chavez's Venezuelan oil. We don't produce enough oil at home.
  • But, you ask, "Why with all that oil coming out of the ground [and so much still in the ground in the Bakken], why we don't have cheap oil in the US? We could be making progress on that issue now. But there is no pipeline infrastructure to get it to market. It is currently being trucked to railheads and railed to refineries. There is no pipeline in the area. This adds much to the price per barrel. If there were pipelines, small producers would be able to make plentiful export profits while meeting demand in the US markets at lower costs. As the oil fields and delivery systems mature this would result in increased supply, and stabilize heating oil and gasoline costs for US consumers. This would also create jobs to fuel an economic boom in the USA.
  • Keystone Pipeline would likewise not only ease pressure on consumers and let gas and heating oil prices stabilize and drop from present high levels domestically, but could also bring wealth to US producers and add even more jobs and prosperity than we have seen in a generation in the US.
  • So why does Obama and his Congressional Democrat Party say, "NO!" ? This literal blessing in Eastern Montana & Western North Dakota should, of course, give the US President and Congress all the reasons they need to want the Keystone Pipeline to be built now. But, why won't Obama, Reid, Pelosi and the rest of his Party climb on board? Well, perhaps you recall that no-so-Freudian slip by "Congresswoman" Maxine Waters [D-Marxist, La-La-Land]? Maxine said that the Democrats intend to gain control of, and Nationalize US Oil Companies.
  • A very large array [cabal if you will] of Environmentalists, Globalists, "Open Society" operatives, Hollywood Leftists, Alternative Energy lotus-eaters, and Global Warming theorists [to name only a few] want to keep it so. Obama himself has said that energy prices would "necessarily skyrocket" under his plan for Cap and Trade and the Carbon Offset nonsense.
  • It is one thing for energy companies to make all the profits that they can under true free trade supply & demand economics. It is quite another thing when our own Federal Government engages in crony capitalism and fringe interest groups of elitists throttle the average American consumer, destroy family budgets, and lower our American Standard of Living.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Voting Public:

  • I love entrepreneurs; the rich ones and those trying to become rich! I love Big and Small Oil. I love Pipeline Companies. I like Halliburton, Brown & Root, and all the other companies that Obama and his Marxist Environmentalist pals want you to hate. They create jobs. Turn them loose! The Bakken could become a perfect "Parent"example of success and the Keystone Pipeline could be it's "Child."
  • But let us be clear: We should not be all for those elitist, crony-capitalist Darwinists out there who themselves become well off, but who could care less about the poor National economy and its effects on those hard working, talented citizens who are still striving to get there. This list includes Obama's bundlers, his Green Energy Industry buddies [with scams like Solyndra], and his many deluded friends on Wall Street. Unfortunately, for some in the business world, the business ethic is a purely an exercise in cut throat survivalism. The whole economy to them is just one big brother TV Series.
  • I would personally recommend this novel approach. How about a Christian Business Model? In Jesus' Parable of Ten Minas, the lesson was about rewards for talent hard work and good stewardship and the consequences for timid slothfulness. And, when Jesus spoke about whose face was on the coin [Caesar's], he was making a statement about the false constraints we put on ourselves, he was not making a plea for higher taxes. Obama was [and is] wrong about Jesus and taxes! Talents and profits are good things that go and in hand with The Golden Rule. Taxes paid to Caesar, by contrast, are mostly squandered, and wrongful profits are the works of thieves.
  • Jewish teachings are nearly the same as one would expect. Writer/teacher Edwin Epstein succinctly wrote this: "Basic to Judaism is the notion that it is in the conduct of everyday life and in the most mundane aspects of human interaction that one fulfills mitzvoth --duties or commandments concerning a person's obligations with regard to other human beings and the Almighty. Judaism has long accepted profit as a normal and legitimate aspect of commercial activity so long as it results from just, honest, fair, ethical business dealings."
  • In the secular economic sense of elites, the current gasoline prices are but a intellectual exercise and a slight inconvenience .. a minor bump in the road. They are not really affected by them. But for those with an annual income of $60,000 or less, they must live within their own margin: the family budget. Four to seven dollar [$4-$7] per gallon gasoline or three to six dollar [$3-$6] per gallon heating becomes a new monthly mortgage payment for such a family [dual or single parent].
  • Remember also: Those jacked-up fuel costs affect the price of every other consumer good from food, to washing machines, and even to the price of electricity that fuels Obama's beloved Chevy Volts and Finnish Electric Cars.
  • Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison, and virtually all of our Founders, would be appalled at the state of our economy as well as the divisions in this society caused by this Democrat-spawned Class Warfare. The Founders did not envision a Congress full of Plutocrats analogous to the Roman Senate. Their aim was to create a Citizen Legislature of farmers, businessmen, teachers, shop owners, craftsmen, and statesmen-philosophers who would serve for a short period, purely as a matter of a citizen's republican duty. They did not foresee a Congress dominated by affluent, out-of-touch, Lawyers, and Trust Babies who make a full and lucrative career from the "service" in Congress.
So, while I express my profound disappointment that GOP candidates at every level are not beating the Democrats and Obama to death with this club of his own making, I am somehow not surprised. We are in a state of depression and denial. The Obama Propaganda Machine has left many feeling defeatist. It is a most astonishing predicament, isn't it? Most sentient citizens know that we are headed over the cliff into the Great Abyss, but we all sit around waiting and hoping for some miracle to rescue us from doing our duty as citizens. Many Americans have had the temerity and arrogance to ridicule Germans for what befell them in the 1920s, 1930s and beyond with the rise of Fascism, Nazism, or the mature Soviet State while smugly thinking that it could never happen here. Well?? We have one last chance. We have this one, last election to begin the turnaround. Obama must be voted out. Support the GOP Nominee. We all must. I don't care if you have to wear a clothespin on your nose in the voting booth. If we do not, destruction will come upon us all like a thief in the night. Ford, Dole, Bush I, and McCain all lost because Conservatives stayed at home and voted for Perot, while those lovable, gullible "Moderates" voted for Marxist Democrats disguised as "Hope and Change." The Devil always promises goodies, and almost always wears Prada.
