The liberals, with their push toward all things "green", are succeeding, little-by-little, to price most Americans right out of the market with respect to modern conveniences

“Greening” Us Back to the Stone Age

In 1965, with regard to the war in Viet Nam, Air Force General Curtis LeMay was mistakenly quoted as saying that we should, "...bomb them (the North Vietnamese) back to the Stone Age." According to LeMay, he actually stated that the US had the capability to bomb the North Vietnamese back to the Stone Age. Regardless of its origins, the phrase, in one form or another, has become sort of a part of wartime vernacular and has been used by pro-war, anti-terrorist fanatics with regard to Afghanistan.
The gist of the phrase has to do with demolishing the enemy with sufficient firepower to ensure that any and all vestiges of modern-world conveniences are obliterated. The liberals in Washington and in the United Nations have been pushing the "green" agenda for many years now. And what do we have to show for it? Well, we have four-dollar - soon to be five, in all likelihood - gasoline. In addition to outlawed 100-Watt incandescent light bulbs, we've got "compact fluorescent" light bulbs. Not only are these bulbs expensive, but they cannot be disposed of in a normal fashion due to the small amount of mercury that they contain. Royal Philips Electronics, the light bulb people, with the help of a $10 million dollar "award" from Steven Chu and the Department of Energy (keep in mind that Philips is not even an American company - it is based in The Netherlands), has unveiled a new A19 LED bulb which is supposed to be the latest and greatest lighting product. The problem is that this light bulb - on Home Depot's web site - sells for $49.94 per bulb. Just think: If you have twenty lamps/fixtures in your home, it will only cost you a cool thousand dollars to replace every light bulb with the new bulbs. And what is the payback? How long would you have to burn a 75-cent 60 Watt incandescent bulb to justify the purchase of the new Philips bulb.

Then take the Chevrolet Volt plug-in electric car. The Volt has received a great deal of attention lately - very little of it good. Even with a $7500 tax credit from your friends in Washington, this car sells for well over $30,000. Coupling the high purchase price with a very limited range and sparse means by which to recharge it, you have a recipe for a sales disaster. Which is precisely what the chefs at Chevy and in Washington have delivered to our dinner table. The liberals, with their push toward all things "green", are succeeding, little-by-little, to price most Americans right out of the market with respect to modern conveniences. With working citizens struggling to put gasoline in their vehicles, politicians are trying to force us into driving overpriced electric vehicles with limited range. They are trying to legislate us into using fifty-dollar light bulbs in lieu of the aforementioned 75-cent 40- or 60-Watt bulbs (they've already outlawed 100 Watt bulbs). Before you know it, we will all be back to burning oil lamps (watch out for the CO2 emissions!) and riding horses (it CAN'T be good to have horse manure going down the storm drains, can it?). Perhaps it would be wise to invest in companies that manufacture oil lamps. Smart Americans will take farrier training so that they can tend to the needs of the horses that will be clogging our nation's highways. The law of unintended consequences is catching up with us. Then again, come to think of it, with liberals controlling the agenda, perhaps the consequences aren't so "unintended" after all.
