“Rejecting” Susan Sarandon another Hollywood act?

Hauling Hollywood’s Pretend World out of the White House

It’s time to kick out-of-work Hollywood clear out of the White House.
With all of their money and living with the bruised egos and boredom that comes from being too long out of work, some Hollywood stars are spending their off time making a mockery of the White House. The in-love-with-the-sound-of-his-own-voice Tom Hanks, who turned up as the narrator in the recent Obama campaign film, “The Road We’ve Travelled” tries to portray Obama’s presidency in 17-minutes, a quest where Hanks bombs out just as he did in his protagonist role as Robert Langdon, professor of religious iconography and symbology for Harvard University in the failed sequel to Da Vince Code. Although Barry Soetoro Obama has only been in the White House for four years, on most days it seems like he’s been there forever.

Life may be made to appear easy as a walk in the park in the pretend world of the silver screen, but in the reality of everyday life it’s losing the roof over your head and not being able to find another job to pay the rent. Hanks, who has been licking his mammoth wounded ego ever since Da Vinci Code sequel days, should give up trying to find fame through hanging with Obama. Tommy Da Vinci ain’t the only one trying to force life on the silver screen into the real one. The next time Johnny Depp, who dressed like the Mad Hatter in the secret, 2009 Alice in Wonderland themed Halloween Party thrown by Barack and Michelle Obama, steps out on Trick or Treat night, he should remember that countless parents can no longer afford costumes for their little gaffers. George Lucas would be doing the little people of real life one big favour if he reminded laid-off House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Don’t-call-me-Ma’am Senator Barbara Boxer and the Happy Gang that “May the force be with you” is only a celluloid rule and never intended as a real life one. The words Pelosi used to describe Lucas when she presented him with the Lincoln medal at the Ford Theatre’s Grand Reopening on Feb. 11, 2009, are just as apt in describing her: “With his art, George Lucas has taken us around the world and to a galaxy far, far away.” Then there’s the off-screen braggadocio of spend-happy George Clooney, who boasts he will raise $6 million in a May 10 Obama fundraiser in his private Los Angeles home. With the grinding world poverty Hollywood’s political friends claim to care so much about still out there, wouldn’t the money of Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp and George Clooney be better spent on the downtrodden poor? Through all the cigar smoke, can’t they see that some 40 million Americans are now on food stamps? But the blow in any leftwing breeze tinsel of Hollywood is blowing to frenetic new levels in the possible ‘Agent Provocateur’ category. “(Susan) Sarandon’s recent rejection from the White House could indicate that her outspoken activism is deemed troubling by the government.” (dailymail.co.uk, April 23, 2012). The word ‘could' goes a long way here. “Sarandon and her then-husband, actor Tim Robbins, campaigned for John Edwards in New Hampshire, even suggesting that Jesus would be ‘very supportive‘ of the presidential candidate.” Sarandon has since turned up for liberal political causes alongside anti-war activists Cindy Sheehan and Jane Fonda. Last year, she personally stopped off on her way to the airport, stepping out of her chauffeur-driven limousine to buck up a winter-flagging Occupy Wall Street (OWS), encouraging them to fight harder to hold the government accountable. Sarandon has thrown her support behind Democratic presidential candidates in previous elections, and in 2004 even publicly advocated a call for international bodies to monitor U.S. elections. Does this sound like someone the White House would toss out on her well-exercised duff? Sarandon’s “recent rejection” from the White House has about as much credibility as OWS periodically claiming to be anti-Obama, when it is well known that they are funded in part by the Obama-promoting George Soros of Sorosfiles.com fame. It’s time to kick Hollywood out of the White House and to put moonlighting stars back to work, if only for our own peace and security. There are few things more dangerous than the bored Botox, tender-egoed Hollywood crowd with nothing better to do than spend their money on reelection campaigns for radical presidents. Global society would be safer if Hanks, Depp, Clooney, Sarandon and their ilk started boning up on their lines for Hollywood’s next ‘great’ remake in their own summer stock Little Theatre, at least until the less shining-with-stardust among us get through November elections.
