The new flat earth society is not a fringe group of a few people living in the middle of nowhere. It is to be found at the Goddard Institute of Space Studies (GISS), not to be confused with the Goddard Space Flight Center, personified by its leader for many years, Dr. James E. Hansen.
Of course he is not alone; there are numerous colleagues, both with the institute and outside, who all hark back the same old – discredited – tune: Carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere will lead to catastrophic global warming, etc.
The Greenhouse Gas Theory
The greenhouse gas theory (GGT) was originally proposed by Svante Arrhenius (1859-1927) in 1896. For nearly a hundred years, his theory did not get any scientific traction to speak of. Then in 1981, James E. Hansen published a paper in the journal Science to revive it. Later on, Al Gore and others picked it up, the UN’s International Program on Climate Change was established to analyze and report on its veracity, etc.
Three decades and many billions of research dollars later, it appears the whole idea of the GGT was/is based entirely on faulty science – some call it junk science – from the word go. Not only does the theory have gaping holes, its supposed prime suspect (CO2) has just about been exonerated.
Nevertheless, Hansen’s latest contribution to this field, reiterates the hoax. Hansen and 17 co-authors state in their article on “Scientific Case for Avoiding Dangerous Climate Change to Protect Young People and Nature,” that “Humanity is now the dominant force driving changes of Earth's atmospheric composition and thus future climate. The principal climate forcing is carbon dioxide (CO2) from fossil fuel emissions, much of which will remain in the atmosphere for millennia.”
Flat Earth Model
Don’t believe a word of it. Hansen’s et al. work is based on a flat-earth model, which severely distorts any and all conclusions drawn from it. In case you thought that Christopher Columbus proved the flat earth idea to be wrong, think again. Their claim that “CO2 from fossil fuel emissions will remain in the atmosphere for millennia” is equal nonsense.
Even the scientific journal Nature now admits that Hansen’s “research is riddled with systematic errors”. But GISS continues to have Hansen as its scientific top dog. I wonder how much longer.
