Stay away from Suzuki’s world and forget about wind power, ‘eco-friendly’ organic cotton, starch-based baby powder

Suzuki’s Green Babies

The David Suzuki Foundation is dispensing advice on Having a Green Baby”. “I've plans to ‘green’ this life-altering bundle of joy and curb its added impact on the planet, starting with diapers.”
Obviously, the Suzuki Foundation’s thinks your newborn’s impact on the world needs to be curbed. What better way to limit your baby’s impact than by starting the ‘process’ right away. “The process begins during early infancy (0 to 4 months).” They omit to mention that this ‘process’ did not seem to be appropriate for Suzuki’s own offspring, but -- appear to think -- it must be good for everyone else.

Diaper-free

If you have to use any diapers at all, the foundation recommends ‘eco-friendly’ ones, manufactured with wind power. But really they would rather have your baby go ‘diaper-free’ altogether. Suzuki‘s foundation espouses the conditions prevalent in India and Africa, where diaper-less babies are said to be the norm. The high rates of infant mortality in those areas seem to be of no concern in their minds. These conditions may well be related to the ‘diaper-free’ upbringing promoted.

But if you really do not want to go diaper-less, they want you to take steps to "green" your baby, such as mixing your own baby powder, with drops of ylang ylang and other common ingredients. In case you have not heard of ylang ylang before, Wikipedia calls it a fragrance obtained through steam distillation of perfume tree flowers [2].

Suzuki Foundation’s Advice

Suzuki Foundation’s advice to others often is in stark contrast to Suzuki’s own deeds. From recommendations to go diaper-free to Suzuki’s own carbon footprint, it appears that “what is good for the goose is NOT good for the gander.” The pontifications to young mothers on how to “green” your baby are reminiscent of the communist ideology where everyone was deemed to be ‘equal,’ other than the political elite, which enjoyed all of the modern conveniences and benefits.

My Advice

Stay away from Suzuki’s world and forget about wind power, ‘eco-friendly’ organic cotton, starch-based baby powder (it promotes yeast infections) and the like. Try to use all the amenities available for your own and your family’s best future.
