Following the President Obama's "ground breaking" speeches and proposals on the Middle East, let's engage in a seemingly innocuous experiment. We'll reproduce here major portions of the infamous Munich Agreement of September 29, 1938 between Germany, Great Britain, France, and Italy, with some modifications rendered boldface. This modified Munich Agreement (let's name it Munich-2) would reflect precisely the dire consequences of the half-baked proposals for the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, expressed repeatedly by President Obama and the so called Quartet:
Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Italy [United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia], taking into consideration the agreement, which has been already reached in principle for the cession to Germany [to Palestinian Authority] of the Sudeten German territory [the West Bank territory], have agreed on the following terms and conditions governing the said cession and the measures consequent thereon, and by this agreement they each hold themselves responsible for the steps necessary to secure its fulfillment: (1) The evacuation will begin on October 1, 1938 [October 1, 2012]; (2) Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Italy [United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia] agree that the evacuation of the territory shall be completed by the October 10, 1938 [October 10, 2012], without any existing installations [the Jewish settlement installations] having been destroyed, and that the Czechoslovak Government [the Israeli Government] will be held responsible for carrying out the evacuation without damage to the said installations.

(3) The conditions governing the evacuation will be laid down in detail by an international commission composed of representatives of Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Czechoslovakia [United Nations, United States, European Union,Russia, and Israel]. (6) The final determination of the frontiers [between Israel and the West Bank] will be carried out by the international commission. The commission will also be entitled to recommend to the four Powers, Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Italy [United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia], in certain exceptional cases, minor modifications [to the frontiers]; (7) There will be a right of option into and out of the transferred territories [option of Palestinian refugees returning to Israel proper]; (8) The Czechoslovak Government [the Israeli Government] will, within a period of four weeks from the date of this agreement, release Sudeten German prisoners [Palestinian freedom fighters] who are serving terms of imprisonment for political [resistance related] offences.

Below you'll find some telling opinions about the 1938 Munich Agreement (Munich-1): Neville Chamberlain, announcing the Munich-1 in the British House of Commons: "...the settlement of the Czechoslovakian problem, which has now been achieved, is, in my view, only the prelude to a larger settlement in which all Europe may find peace." Adolf Hitler, in his speech to his generals on August 22, 1939, a week before the invasion of Poland: "Our enemies are little worms, I saw them at Munich." And this is the voice of the old sage Winston Churchill. (Israelis should justifiably apply his words to the possible and treacherous Munich-2): "Do not suppose that this is the end. This is only the beginning of the reckoning. This is only the first sip, the first foretaste of a bitter cup which will be proffered to us year by year unless, by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigour, we arise again and take our stand for freedom as in the olden time."
