We knew even before its landfall that Hurricane Sandy would be fully exploited by election-bound politicians. And, if you have the stomach for it, look what Sandy’s wake just blew in:
Obama and Christie
With an estimated 8 million souls still grappling in the dark and the Big Apple subway system predicted to be down for weeks or maybe months, Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama are back on the campaign trail today. Romney will be in the swing state of Florida with Sen. Marco Rubio and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. Dwarfed by a bro type picture with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie in a Drudge Report story, Obama will be given a personal tour by Christie to see the ravages of New Jersey in the storm aftermath.

It was only yesterday that Christie had criticized Atlantic City mayor Lorenzo Langford as a “rogue mayor” for supposedly encouraging residents to ride out the storm in designated shelters rather than leave the area entirely (TodayNews.today.com, Oct. 31, 2012). “I feel badly for the folks in Atlantic City who listened to him and sheltered in Atlantic City, and I guess my anger has turned to sympathy for those folks, and we’re in the midst now of trying to go in and save them,” Christie said. He “guesses” his anger turned to sympathy for the folks in his own state caught up in a storm described as the worst in Northeast U.S. history? Guess Christie saves his best bloviating for more important events like the RNC. Politics indeed makes strange bedfellows. But the reality of fellow travelers Christie and Obama out there in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy makes them the “Fatty and Skinny” Laurel & Hardy actors of all time. The Laurel & Hardy of old got nothing on this political act. Wonder how Conservative author and pundit Ann Coulter, who has been touting Christie as if he’s the Second Messiah, feels now? Reportedly “upset” that Christie didn’t come through at the Republican National Convention in August, Coulter thought her favourite fat boy didn’t come out on the attack against Obama. “I love Chris Christie,” she told Whispers from the convention floor, where she arrived just as the governor took the stage. “But I could have seen a little more of an attack. Which speaker attacks Obama? I thought that was going to happen with him. “Christie, whose keynote address followed Ann Romney’s, told Republicans in a rousing but familiar speech that when given the choice between being loved and being respected, they should “always pick being respected. “Though he received a standing ovation for lines like “they believe in teachers unions, we believe in teachers,” Christie’s language was immediately criticized for being too generic. “Coulter said she didn’t understand why Christie did not strongly criticize Obama more, but thought “maybe we’re just kindler (sic), gentler Republicans.” (USNEWS, Aug.29, 2012) Chris conned you, Annie, and in the fullness of time since resembles more the rude and crude word Obama recently used against Romney: “bullsh--er”. Politics is a dirty game and no one plays it better than political folk like Obama and Christie. There have been arguments ever since his election how RINO the too-much-girth Chris Christie really is. The proof is there today on the front page of the Drudge Report.
