Who says we don't do serious reforms?

White House petitions: Now you’ll have to get four times the signatures before they pretend to take

We can't cut even the tiniest sliver off the deficit. We can't get anywhere near accuracy on fiscal projections. But hey, we can fix that sadly broken process of online petition drives at WhiteHouse.gov!
Time was when the White House obligated itself to give you a serious response if you got 25,000 signatures on a petition requesting absolutely anything. That's how the Obama crew found itself forced to pay attention when a bunch of numbskulls requested the building of the Death Star and the deportation of Piers Morgan, which is actually not such a bad idea. Well. Fool them once, shame on you. Hey. They're supposed to be the ones fooling the rest of us! So now you're going to need 100,000 signatures before they go through the motions of pretending to take you seriously. Does anyone seriously think netroots nation is going to have a problem with that?

Send James Bond to handle unrest in Syria! Expand the NBA to 10,000 teams! Free ice cream for everyone! No idea is a bad idea. You just need enough idiots asking for it. This may be the most unserious White House we have ever had, fiddling while the nation's entire fiscal structure burns, and refusing to take even the slightest step toward solving the problem. But hey, if you can get re-elected by ignoring the real issues and entertaining stupid petition drives about nonsense, why not? A nation usually deserves its leaders. Congratulations, America.
