Well, it took them long enough, but the State run Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has finally apologized for the obscene attack on Governor Sarah Palin that appeared on September 5 that was extensively covered in the conservative press in both Canada and the U.S.
Heather Mallick called McCain a “hateful little man,” called Republicans and Palin “white trash,” and also called Palin a “porn actress” in her two September 5 articles (one has been removed by the CBC the other is at The Guardian). That wasn’t all as Mallick seemed to completely lose her mind with a litany of name calling and charges not based in any factual evidence.
The complaint soon flowed into the inbox of the kindly lefties at the CBC, so many in fact that even these hard core leftists had to back track from Mallick’s insane ramblings.
According to Canada’s National Post, the CBC spun a mea culpa on Sunday, September 28.

Vince Carlin, the CBC Ombudsman, did not fault Ms. Mallick for “the caustic nature of her tone or the polarizing nature of her opinion.”
“But he objects that many of her most savage assertions lack a basis in fact,” Mr. Cruickshank wrote.
Nice to know that the state run service isn’t against wild-eyed vitriol, isn’t it? Still, it’s good that they’ve realized how foolish this nut “journalist” was being.
Suddenly, as a result of this incident, the CBC seems to have realized that they cater only to the most extreme leftists with their product. Of course, everyone else has known this for decades… but, hey, better late than never.
As a result of the complaints, new editing procedures have been put in place “to insure that in the future, work that is not appropriate for our platforms, will not appear,” Mr. Cruickshank wrote.
In his assessment of the complaints, Mr. Carlin also noted that CBCNews.ca displays a “very narrow range” on its web pages and the broadcaster is addressing that by expanding the diversity of its writers and opinions, Mr. Cruickshank added.
Yeah, a “narrow range.” CBCNews.ca has a range from bomb-throwing Stalinist, to pseudo intellectual Marxists… but, you now. It is a bit hard to believe that they will really change anything, but you know what they say: admitting your addiction is the first step to a cure.
In any case, the CBC is announcing that change is in the wind. And I say, we’ll see.
