The real war on women involves using statistics to ensure they're defenseless

Colorado Dem to rape survivor: statistics say a gun wouldn’t have helped you

Monday, the Colorado legislature held a hearing regarding its proposal to ban concealed carry on college campuses. Amanda Collins, a rape survivor and gun rights advocate, was allowed to share her story.
When she was finished, she asked the lawmakers "How does rendering me defenseless protect you against a violent crime." First, Republican Ted Harvey answered by apologizing for political correctness run amok. "What we are trying to do here," he said, "Is not to protect ourselves from violent crime, what we are trying to do here tonight is protect teachers and students from feeling uncomfortable by you carrying a gun to protect yourself. Every witness that has come up here tonight has said they want to feel unintimidated and feel free to debate freely on a college campus. And having you have the right to defend yourself against a violent attacker weighs more -for them - that the right to self-defense. And for that I apologize." Then, it was the Democrat's turn. State Senator Evie Hudak's answer was as idiotic as it was insulting.

" I just want to say that, actually, statistics are not on your side, even if you had had a gun," Hudak said. "You said that you were a martial arts student, and yet - I mean person, experienced in tae kwon do, and yet because this individual was so large and was able to overcome you, even with your skills. And chances are that if you had had a gun, then he would have been able to get than from you and possibly use it against you and the Colorado Collation Against Gun Violence says that for every one woman who used a handgun to kill someone in self-defense, 83 were murdered by them." So, ladies, according to Hudak, you're supposed to just lay down and get raped because "statistics are not on your side." More to the point, Democrats who would like you to be as helpless as possible are "not on your side." To her credit, Collins wasn't about to sit there and be lectured like she was some kind of weak little moron who doesn't understand left-wing math. "Respectfully, Senator, you weren’t there," she responded. "You’re right my parents equipped me to insure that I would not be an easy victim – and that I would not be an easy target – they did everything they could to reduce the risk of me being raped and that’s all it did, it reduced the risk, it did not guarantee that. Furthermore, had I been concealed, had I been carrying concealed, he wouldn’t had known I had my weapon – and I was there, I know without a doubt in my mind at some point I would’ve been able to stop my attack by using my firearm. He already had a weapon of his own, he didn’t need mine." Good for her. Colorado should be embarrassed by the sheer stupidity that Hudak has placed on display.
