Coronation Street
British Soap hides cross for Muslims
Coronation Street, the Brit soap, hid the cross so that Muslims would not be offended.
The scene was the Christian sanctuary interior for a wedding ceremony. There was the cross in full view.. But it had to be sliced out of the picture in order that Islamics would stay happy.
It’s a 14th-century edifice. The environs are gorgeous as far as Christian churches are concerned. In the focus of it all is, of course, the Christian cross. Why not?
But there are producers who conclude that the Christian cross simply cannot remain in place since Muslims in Britain could get in a snit.
When the scene was filmed, candles and floral bouquets were positioned in such a way that the bolted down cross could not be seen by angels or demons. It was gone. Zip.
The church’s pastor was informed that the secured cross would have to be removed from the building. That was not going to happen for it is solidly secured in place.
“‘I can’t imagine how people would be offended. It’s a church - you expect to see a cross in there.
“‘You would expect to see the Koran in a film of a mosque, a menorah in a film of a synagogue and similarly a cross when filming a Christian church,’” the pastor said.
“Stephen Green from protest group Christian Voice said: ‘It’s absolutely ridiculous.
”‘If you’re going to film people getting married in a church, you’re going to come across the odd cross, picture of Jesus or a stained glass window.
“‘It’s this sort of stupidity that gives political correctness a bad name..’”
This sort of thing is what drives Islam World Rule into full force ahead. There is no reason at all why Christians should bow down to Muslim demands.
Muslims move into a non-Muslim society and take over. Non-Muslims must simply hold their ground.
Christians in a Muslim culture never get any demands granted. Of course, Christians basically don’t make demands on the Islamic environs. They live there; they keep to the law; they conclude that a Muslim country is a Muslim country.
But not so when Muslims infiltrate one non-Muslim culture after another.
“Stephen Regan, a spokesman for the Diocese of Chester, said: ‘The cross is universally accepted as a symbol of Christianity, and should offend no one.
“’Christianity and Christian characters are quite often featured in both Coronation Street and EastEnders, so why the makers of the Street should object to a cross featuring during a Christian wedding service does not make much sense.’”
