Toronto, ON (November 19, 2010) – Frommer’s readers have voted Ireland #1 as the Readers’ Favourite Destination for 2011!

The Readers’ Favourite Destination is part of the larger Frommer’s Top Destination List for 2011, which is a list compiled by Frommer’s writers and editors featuring the hot travel destinations for the upcoming year. After receiving 29 per cent of 7,300+ ballots cast, Ireland beat out nine other destinations, including Alaska, Australia, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Hawaii, Italy, New Zealand, and the 2010 Readers’ Favourite, Paris.

“Tourism Ireland is honoured to be awarded such a title for 2011”, says Jayne Shackleford, Manager for Tourism Ireland in Canada, “Especially because it as an award based on the experiences of the very people who spend their vacation time visiting the island of Ireland.”

Voters’ comments and praise for the “tourist-friendly nation of Ireland” from Frommer’s website includes Ireland’s “lush countryside, history and opportunities to ramble and explore.”
