San Jose State University professors burn a skeptic’s book
By Jack Dini Monday, May 6, 2013
Here’s a recent original caption from the San Jose Department of Meteorology website; “This week we received a deluge of free books from the Heartland Institute. The book is entitled, “The Mad, Mad, Made of Climatism.” Shown above, Drs. Bridger and Clements test the flammability of the book.” (The actual title of the book is “The Mad, Mad, Mad World of Climatism”—not sure where the word Made came from. By design intent? ) Regardless, here is the access to a version of the photo before it was eliminated from the San Jose web page: (1)
Climate Sceptics Win Rocks Britain’s Political LandscapeBy Guest Column Friday, May 3, 2013
The UK Independence Party has overtaken the Liberal Democrats as the third party of British politics, Nigel Farage declared today as he made major gains in local elections. As senior Conservatives scrambled to justify haemorrhaging support to the anti-EU party, Mr Farage said he was at the head of a ‘wave of protest’ which would permanently change the political landscape.—Daily Mail, 3 May 2013
From Russia—with ColdBy Dr. Klaus L.E. Kaiser Thursday, May 2, 2013
Agent 007 had it easy. In the movie From Russia with Love, all he had to do was to prevent a typewriter-(remember those ?)-sized device fall into the hands of the other side. Now, the world is faced with a new and bigger problem, i.e. “From Russia - with Cold.”
New Report: A Crisis In UK Energy Policy Looks InevitableBy Guest Column Thursday, May 2, 2013
EU policy makers have grossly underestimated the difficulties and risks of their drive to decarbonise the power sector. They have failed to take into account the huge changes in the economic, commodity and financial environments and adjust policy accordingly. A crisis in UK energy policy looks increasingly likely and therefore utility companies and investors would be prudent in limiting their future exposure.—Peter Atherton and Guillaume Redgwell, Liberum Capital, 30 April 2013

There is a persistent green myth that coal-fired power generation causes city smogs. It does not.
Peter Kent’s Earth Day gift to Canadians: 24 hours without the climate scareBy Tom Harris Sunday, April 28, 2013
Canadian Environment Minister Peter Kent gave us an unexpected gift on April 22: his Earth Day speech focused on real environmental protection and included nothing at all about climate change, global warming, greenhouse gases or carbon dioxide.
Obama’s smear misfires at GOP ‘deniers’By Marc Morano Friday, April 26, 2013
Climate Depot Responds to Obama campaign’s climate smear of skeptics—Morano: ‘Bluntly stated, a man—President Obama—who declared his presidency would result in ‘the rise of the oceans beginning to slow’, has no business whatsoever claiming he understands, let alone champions science in any way’—‘A president who claims Americans can ‘do something’ about floods, hurricanes, droughts tornadoes is not pro-science’
President Barack Obama’s campaign to smear and intimidate global warming skeptics in Congress is now in full swing. See: Obama campaign launches plan to shame climate skeptics in Congress: ‘It is time to call out U.S. politicians who deny the science behind climate change’ & Obama Tweets about global warming: ‘Climate deniers in Congress refuse to even debate the issue. Make sure they don’t get away with it’
Japan Kills Climate AgendaBy News on the Net Friday, April 26, 2013
The Japanese government is moving to speed up the environmental assessment process for new coal-fired power plants. According to Japanese media reports, the government intends to make 12 months the maximum period for assessing and approving new coal-fired power plants as its utilities seek to develop more power stations to stem surging energy supply bills. With the government considering the closure of much of the installed nuclear capacity over the medium term, the spotlight is back on coal as the cheapest energy source, notwithstanding plans to cut carbon emissions. A commitment to slice 2020 carbon emissions by 25 per cent from their 1990 level will be revised by October, according to Japanese newspaper reports.—Brian Robins, The Sydney Morning Herald, 26 April 2013

Consensus And Controversy
By Guest Column Tuesday, April 23, 2013
This report positively concludes that an alleged near unanimous scientific consensus on anthropogenic global warming (AGW), that “the science is settled”, is overstated. The report finds a robust, critical scientific discourse in climate related research, yet it highlights that a “consensus-building” approach to science might represent a politicised and unscientific belief in science – a belief in tension with the ethos of “normal science”. The report calls for a continuing questioning, critical, and undogmatic public debate over man-made global warming, and a clearer separation between science and policy.—Consensus and Controversy, SINTEF April 2013
Europe Is Becoming A Green-Energy Basket CaseBy Guest Column Monday, April 22, 2013
For years, European leaders have flaunted their unwavering commitment to fighting climate change — and chastised the United States for lagging behind. But last week brought yet more confirmation that the continent has become a green-energy basket case. Instead of a model for the world to emulate, Europe has become a model of what not to do.—Editorial, The Washington Post, 22 April 2013
Reusch’s Moraine – Another “Consensus” Gone AwryBy Dr. Klaus L.E. Kaiser Saturday, April 20, 2013
There is a unique rock formation at Norway’s northern coast. Well, the rock itself is not unique at all, but its age is – 1,000 million years old. Actually, that age is not remarkable either as much of the earth’s surface is covered with ancient rocks of that age and older. So, what is so special about that particular rock?
