CommentsBoycott has been on for awhile in this household. I'm a character actress up here in the Pac. Northwest and I'm not even auditioning anymore. The stuff they were doing before they won the Whitehouse was much more interesting--when they were angry. Now it's fluff or remakes or just too nasty or childish that I don't want my name associated with it in any way, shape, or form!I have no name or face recognition and STILL I get my opinion asked of me from time to time. I'M AN ACTOR!! I PLAY PRETEND FOR A LIVING!! I MEMORIZE AND PARROT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE WRITE FOR ME!!(Unless I do the writing myself.) Okay I'll stop yelling now. To any actors out there who just might read this comment I have this to say: Learn your lines, hit your marks, and when the cameras are off and a microphone is stuck in front of your pretty, surgically altered faces, shut your pie holes. The more you unzip the fly of your opinion, the harder it is for the audience to suspend its disbelief and buy into your performance should you ever play someone considered conservative. (Richard Dreyfus as Dick Cheney comes to mind here...Sheesh!) Morons... Posted by Driefromseattle on 10/21 at 03:27 AM | # Pope Benedict has just said that Europe "was a desert of godlessness". Hmmm, I wonder if such a thought ever crossed Hitler's mind? I doubt it. Far too many will pay attention to the words of someone who is famous in one field when they give an opinion in an area where they have little or no knowledge. Just because someone is a professor or teacher of a subject does not make them an authority in another area, but many students “worship” a teacher and therefore “hang on every utterance coming from their mouths”. I am trained as a scientist and have done well in my field, but that does not make me an authority on any other subject unless I have studied that subject well. Most actors and actresses we now see are what I call “narrow gauge railroads” in that they have studied deeply in the field of acting, but do not have so much as a clue as to what the field of politics involves nor do they necessarily have any knowledge in just plain common sense. To call them “narrow gauge railroads” is not an insult, but just a recognition of the fact that they are very knowledgeable in their field of expertise and we admire their depth of knowledge in that field, but if they live like some disturbed animal they are, in my opinion, not worthy of any admiration and to follow any of their opinions is probably a “trip over fools hill”. I might pity them, but I most assuredly will not support them. Tom, A look into Lee Marvin’s military history is most assuredly enlightening, and I never heard him even mention his heroic deeds. Posted by JohnMinn on 10/20 at 11:22 AM | # Hollywood was once the home of great Americans like President Reagan, and Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin, and others who served honorably in our military forces. Now it is the realm of vapid freaks like Sean Penn, Tom Cruise, and Susan Sarandon. Little people who believe they are important. Airheads who are followed by their airhead contemporaries in the news media. The proles lend these virtual nonentities the pedestal of celebrity. At one point I believed Morgan Freeman to be an exception to the race whiners like the has-been Harry Belefonte, but it turns out he is just another black racist, unlike Herman Cain who is not an African American as you say with an eye to political correctness. Herman Cain is a great American. As Teddy Roosevelt so famously said either you are an American or not--no hyphenations. If you are an American, you speak our language: English. Absolutely Jeff. I'm 57 and had boycotted Hanoi Jane way back in the late '60s. Been boycotting Lefties with pleasure ever since. Bleeding hearts are just that: cry babies. They just want attention. At OUR EXPENSE. They do not deserve our attention, let alone their American citizenship. Posted by Jay on 10/20 at 10:18 AM | # On a recent show, Bill O’Reilly disparaged Tony Bennett’s opinion that the attack on 9–11 was an “inside job.” Well, both sides of the coin pitchin’ a hissy fit! This Superstar says “Blah, blah, blah …” and another Superstar proclaims “You’re nuts!” What gets me is that people who have made, perhaps, millions of dollars because they can sing, read a script or play a game think they are imbued with brilliant wisdom throughout the gamut of political, economic, government, poverty, etc. issues. While it may be true that some of these Superstars may have some knowledge in this or that area – what REALLY gets me is that many adoring fans of one Superstar or other transfer the hero worship they hold for their performance to almost mindless acceptance of everything they say! Posted by Winston Smith on 10/20 at 05:26 AM | # I have long stated that the modern LIBERAL has no time for truth, but that they only stand on their deep seated prejudices and hatred of good. Is it then any wonder that I NEVER go to any show a left wing “actor” is in? As with the claim by the druggie Nancy Pelosi who claims that the T-Party people spit on the black congressmen she paraded right through the gathering, but all efforts to come up with ANYTHING to sustain her accusations proved fruitless and the words of those "actors" are nothing more than rotten fruit. Truth is not a necessary element for the left wing and that should be obvious. On the opposite side, the DC parks people stated that they could not find “so much as a gum wrapper” left behind by the huge gathering of the T-Party people, BUT there were TRUCK LOADS of trash left behind by the left wing gathering celebrating their god. And what did the un-news media say about those situations? Not so much as a peep because it did not fit the picture their prejudice wanted. How do you know when a LIBERAL is lying? Their lips are moving. If you watch any movies or shows they are in/on, shame on you! You are supporting those liars. Posted by JohnMinn on 10/19 at 09:36 PM | # Jeff, I sent the following email to Uniqlo. Maybe you can ask others to do the same; I hope that recent hateful comments made by Susan Sarandon regarding a religious leader of millions of Catholics will prompt you to remove her as a spokesperson for your new flagship store in New York. Her comments are also being denounced by Jewish leaders as reprehensible. I will boycott your brand and urge others to do the same until I know you have fired her. Do the right thing. Hate speech should never be tolerated in any form. I am sure your brand does not want to be associated with someone who uses hate speech. Susan Sarandon and her liberal friends, when the stars stray from their make believe world of Hollywood into the real world, it is not a pretty sight to behold October 19, 2011…The hyperbole from the left is getting more extreme with each passing day. Several weeks ago actor Morgan Freeman claimed the Tea Party movement was “racist.” Last Friday, actor Sean Penn called the Tea Party the group that wanted to “get the N-word out of the White House” and “lynch” the President. These foolish actors have not seen or must not understand the latest polls which show African American Herman Cain as the Tea Party’s favorite candidate.
