CommentsSuzuki would have been selling snake oil a century ago.Posted by Dan on 12/13 at 02:29 AM | # First point that needs clarification is that Suzuki is not a scientist by any stretch of imagination. David graduated by a little known College in Chicago with a Bachelor or Education in Biology. It gave him the right to teach grade 12 High School students. When he took a job at CBC-TV as the "host" of Nature of Things they began calling him Dr. Suzuki due to an "honorary degree" given to him by the University of Vancouver. At that point he was suddenly and expert of the science on climate, plastic, forests, oil, fish etc. It was the most fraudulent use of an honorary degree I have ever seen. I challenged him on several occasions to show me proof that his Wiki site showing 34 PhDs, and his Foundation website showing 28 PhDs, were true. He tossed a "plastic" bottle of water at me during one of those challenges in front of 500 people in Vancouver. His speech was about getting rid of plastic bottled water! His foundation received 4 million from two huge forestry industry corporations. There is a video about it on YouTube. In return, as a member of a Boreal Forest group, his wrote that the Boreal Forests of Canada were in great shape. They forgot to mention in that report, that is available online, that they counted the 3 foot trees in the near Arctic. He also gets cozy Grants from the Canada Council and Heritage Foundation under different names. Short explanation: if I produce a movie about the environment and include David in it, with a grant from Heritage Canada he does not include the money I pay him, as government funding. He does not include the 250,000+ he earns from the CBC as government funding. The CBC gets over 1.6 Billion from the Canadian government each year. You need to see his 16 room home on one of the islands along the coast of B.C. to appreciate deceptive game he plays. He has money pouring in from so many sources, which I suppose, is not too bad for a grade 12 teacher. A very sad legacy for Canada and hoax for Canadians or anyone who listens to him. The David Suzuki Foundation has received at least $10 million from American foundations, an average of about $1 million per year. Deploring recent media coverage about the American funding of the environmental movement in Canada, David Suzuki wrote an op-ed this week, published by Troy Media. He writes, “In a puzzling appeal to anti-American sentiment, some industry supporters claim that U.S. foundations are threatening Canadian policy by donating money to environmental groups here. These arguments have appeared in publications such as the Vancouver Sun and Calgary Herald, and on Sun TV.” More...Post a Comment on: The bad science behind David Suzuki’s campaignCommenting is not available in this channel entry.
