Your former opposition cheering the present government? Nothing new (and nothing funny) about it: it’s exactly the same story as with Nazis opposing the Weimar Government or with our Bolsheviks opposing Tsarist Government. All their rebellious vigor evaporated right after 1933 and 1917. Because since then the former rebels enjoyed hugely their own beloved governments – Hitler’s, Stalin’s, Obama’s. Rostislav, Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

Mr. Sharp, it is a peculiar thing when "we" become "them". This is the conundrum of the Socialist. How do you take control of the "establishment" without becoming "the man"? For anyone with half a brain (probably a correct estimate for many of these throwbacks)the logical answer is; you can't. So, as we "progress" towards Utopia some individuals will have to suffer the burden and stigma of "leadership" until the goal is achieved. The vigor that drove the disgust from without now comes from within. The agenda of every group once considered outside of the mainstream is now a primary objective while the once accepted middle class mores are now under siege as oppressors of individual freedom and abusers of Mother Earth.

To address your point, I see it from a different angle. After having learned they could not just turn on and drop out and make any difference, they have decided to trash the Constitution, vilify capitalism, and demolish the very institutions that fueled what became the most successful nation on Earth. I'm afraid they have found a more effective method of "railing against the empire" by becoming the empire. It will only be a matter of time until the progress us right back to the Stone Age.
