CommentsExcellent article... Great for opening up more and more concepts of past and present and to know what is truly important to us as a nation. What makes the article even more than excellent to me is they way it describes slavery at the time of Pharaoh in a nearly poetic way, explaining that it was not merely domination of body but also of mind and that the same applies today in many ways. The slavery of mind is almost a willing acceptance by people who either know better or have been led to believe they are in such a predicament that no escape is possible. In Pharaoh's day, the people did not see that escape of their condition was possible and only petitioned their masters to alleviate their situation. Today, we find people in the same situation. We have those in Congress that are being petitioned or are held in regard in such a way that We the People expect them to treat us in a responsible way but all too often, our representatives are serving the Party, a political philosophy or serving themselves. We have many similarities and parallels with what is happening today and what happened during and before the Exodus of Scripture. The Jews at that time were lacking in vision, in knowing what was possible and how to accomplish their freedom. Today, we also lack vision since what some may see as desirable, others may not see it the same or see another priority is desirable. It's as if there are as many concepts of vision as are mere opinion and it is often exercised as a mere distraction instead of a plan of action. In the days of Pharaoh, the Jews required a messenger with a Holy vision to show the way. We have many messengers today who individually and sometimes vehemently declare that they and only they know "the way" and want to be seen as our messenger/s or guide to the future. In both cases, we can take a lesson from ancient history: Judeo-Christian America needs to see G-d as our Great Guide and that his message is given us in Holy Script. Prayerfully, we would do well to study to show ourselves approved and thus be provided insight to both guide us and to provide the encouragement needed to see us through this current exodus of "slavery" and back to the free country of our ancestors. We have wandered so far away from our founding documents that they have become meaningless paper to the people. Ask them to Read the Declaration of Independence and replace George with Obama and they will ask you “What is the Declaration of Independence?”. Instead of paying attention to G-d and what He told us, we listen to the traditions of man and we worship the golden calves placed before us. When oh when will the people wake up? I don’t think that many will until Satan sets himself up in Jerusalem as Messiah and then the whole world will rush to Jerusalem to worship at his feet. Then he will demand that those who will not worship him be brought before him so that he can show them that he is indeed the Messiah, and a FEW will stand before him and allow The Holly Spirit to speak through them and all will hear the words of G-d in the very language they were born to. When that is accomplished, then the TRUE Messiah will come and all evil will end. The only truly free men are those who are free IN G-d because they KNOW His words and they do their best to follow His ways. Posted by JohnMinn on 04/15 at 11:17 AM | # Excellent article. Surrounded by willing slaves who preach the creed of slavery, we must speak for freedom As another Passover comes to an end and the cycle of the year continues its brief spin, the echoes of “Once we were slaves and now we are free” and “Next year in Jerusalem” fade into the background noise of everyday life. We can board a plane tomorrow and fly off to Jerusalem, some of us are already there now, but will that make us free? Since Egypt we have become slaves again, lived under the rule of iron-fisted tyrants and forgotten what the very idea of freedom means. And that will likely happen again and again until the age ends. What is this freedom that we gained with the fall of a Pharaoh and the last sight of his pyramids and armies?
