CommentsHow could you forget the first drafting of Obomacare, HR 3200? That terrible overreaching legislation would have controlled guns as well as taxed them. I'll take my chances with Romney. Oboma is a 'loose cannon' of sorts and if he gets reelected I'd be willing to bet that he would love nothing more than to limit 2nd amend. rights. He's a super liberal and progressive leftist, why wouldn't he?Posted by sean on 04/17 at 10:44 AM | # The real problem with this argument is that Obama had an extensive history of extreme Gun control when he was a State rep as well as when he was a Senate candidate. He also picked Holder as his AG and Holder is on record from as far back as the Clinton administration as stating that he does not believe the 2nd amendment allows the average citizen to keep and bear arms. Indeed, at holder's confirmation hearings he said that Obama's administration had only a few "common sense" gun reforms in mind and, as an example, offered their initial desire to reinstate and make permanent an assault weapon ban. He did not go into anymore detail, as that seemed to him to be an indicator of the "small common sense" changes they wanted to make. Fast and Furious, for those not following the investigation of the ATF, DEA, State dept, ICE and FBI operation, was most certainly a political operation designed solely to have smuggled American weapons across the border in order to kill hundreds of people so that this administration would have political support for an unconstitutional ban on gun sales. Sounds insane but, well, there it is. The facts speak for themselves. Finally, the multiple extra-legislative actions by this administration--using regulatory agencies to make defacto law and rule by decree, should be clear to any objective observer. The Illinois history, which Obama championed, of banning gun stores in the State by regulatory legislation, suggesting an astronomical tax on ammunition sales and unconstitutional denial of individuals' rights to keep and bear arms is but a microcosm of what the IRS, EPA, ATF, Commerce dept, and DoJ can do to overrun our Constitutional rights. The ATF has already implemented illegal reporting of gun sales in border States. Their reasoning is the Fast and Furious gun sales---that they initiated! The history and intent are clear and anyone who denies it is not only an apologist for this administration but a liar and an enemy of freedom as well. There is no other way to say it and gun sales prove that most Americans are not as stupid as Obama's people think they are. It also shows that there is a fine line between the radical political takeover of a government and initiating an actual civil war.
