CommentsToo many Americans have been dumbed down by our socialistic public school system & mainstream media, they are incapable of thinking logically & connecting these "dots."To the poster, Carol, who wisely asks what we can do in terms of readiness, I'd suggest becoming as self-sufficient as possible in terms of food & energy. IF martial law would be declared in future, the transportation system we take for granted will be dramatically impacted. A retired military contact of mine, who's in "the know", warned me that major highways & bridges will be closed under martial law. City residents would then be unable to flee to safer rural areas. Food would not be able to be shipped in as easily. The U.S./Canada border will likely be closed, as it briefly was following 9/11. If martial law would be used to usher in Marxism, I wouldn't be surprised if the government would shut down parts of the electric grid or even natural gas, making it difficult for people to travel far from their homes. During winter months, this would also make it far easier for the gov't to round up people from their unheated homes & transport them to FEMA camps already constructed--for their own good and safety, of course. (Yeah, right.) One source--and I was never able to verify this--stated that in event of martial law, parents would not be permitted to pick up their own children at school. Families would be thus divided. Homeowners should install a wood burning stove and obtaining 2-3 years worth of firewood, so in worst-case-scenario, they are able to cook & stay warm. Some ready-made foods are not highly nutritious--get a dehydrator to preserve your own fruits. vegetables, jerky. Stock on brown rice, dried beans, nuts (high in protein.) Read the late Euell Gibbons books "Stalking the Wild Asparagus" on how to gather, cook & prepare nutritious wild plants. (Use the search engine "IX quick" instead of Google to do such searches, as IX quick does not save a record of your searches.) A friend who is a member of the militia in another state, seriously advises people to get a tent, camouflage clothes, waterproof matches, basic camp equipment, & learn some survival skills in case families needed to "take to the woods" for their own protection. It seems so weird, so paranoid, to be discussing such topics, but after 3 years of witnessing the rapid downward spiral of this regime, I conclude that such scenarios may be possible. Posted by sdw on 04/26 at 10:27 AM | # Carol, Although you did not pose the question of "...is that all we can do?" may I offer my perspective. At my end of the world I am strengthening relationship with people in my local community. I have the advantage of living in a small town, 1500 population, and relatives are the local Constable and City Police Chief so getting to know one's neighbors is not difficult. I would highly recommend your getting to know your neighbors, if you don't already. Find people of like minds, i.e. conservatives, and find out how well informed they are. If they are not "up to date" on current happenings, I would suggest you bring them up to date in small increments. Refer them to CanadFreePress.com and have them browse the articles. You may even want to point them in a direction that will hit home to them, i.e. Freedom of Speech, Second Amendment, Obamacare, etc. Find out who your local butcher is. In a SHTF scenario, grocery stores will be out of goods in 72 hours or less. It would be good to know someone that can butcher a deer, cow or whatever else you can harvest to help you and your family/friends stay alive. Find out who is a "gardner" in your area and see if they would be willing to plant a "community" garden of assorted edibles. Contact your local police department and ask for the Chief. Pose this question to him/her. "If the order comes from on high, will you seize American citizen's firearms?" Or something similar. If he/she gives you any answer other than a straight forward "No", then you know whom you have to watch out for and this will confirm that your local PD is most probably NOT on the side of the American citizen or the oath he/she took to defend the United States Constitution against all enemies foreign or domestic. Stock up on MREs (meals Ready to Eat), ammunition (especially ammo because the anti-gunners will not go after our guns, they will most probably go after ammo), a couple of reliable firearms (hand gun & long gun), alternate weaponry (crossbow and bolts, bow and arrow), clothing (not just what will fit you and your family, but others as well...excellent bartering items), canned goods (again for barter), WATER (lots and lots of it). I could go on for hours, but I think you get the idea. God bless you and yours and may He once again smile upon America and her patriots. Posted by AJ on 04/25 at 04:25 PM | # Mr. Hagmann, Excellent article. I appreciate your willingness to speak the truth in this age of lies and deceptions. Please continue to help the American people wake up. At the end of the article you say “Get ready, Americans. Understand the playbook”. What are you advising? I have heard many commentators and economists say those words referring to readiness, however, no real concrete ideas have come forth. Food, shelter, ammunition and most importantly, faith in Christ my Savior are good ideas, but is that all we can do? Posted by Carol on 04/25 at 03:07 PM | # Mr. Hagmann, Thank you for a Five Star article. Very important and very well said. Posted by Ralph Bunch on 04/24 at 10:12 AM | # I unfortunately agree with the person that said that we are past the point at which we can affect things at the voting booth. I think the election of George Bush against Gore and the insanity that ensued was to ensure they could open up the polls later on to those who are not citizens, those who are in prison, and effectively dismiss the military vote. And 8 years later--having been sneered at, and told the facts, those who were screaming in 2000 instead of paying attention to real fraud, turned their heads at the obvious proven fraud in 2008 and instead saw it as just desserts. But at the same time, we cannot give up. Even the Occupy movement will have its limits when its devout followers realize they are useful idiots. Well...some of them, others will just implode. There is no doubt that Obama was the Trojan Horse president. Posted by Marci on 04/24 at 04:04 AM | # Doug, this was awesome article, and it hits hard! I have linked back here, clipped and pasted two-three paragraphs, made a couple of comments, and told my readers to click that link and get over here to read this! Sigh, my ammo stash is nowhere near what I'd like. But I'm really good at "requisitioning" materials and equipment. Posted by cmblake6 on 04/23 at 10:33 PM | # My boss and I discuss, almost daily, what is happening to America. He is Austrian born and lived through WWII and the Nazi take over of Austria and most of Europe. He has also spent the majority of his live in Socialist countries and eventually immigrated, legally, to the U.S. in 1985. He has told me on several occasions that if the America of 1985 was the America of today, he never would have immigrated. He sees and recognizes the slow encroachment of the Marxist/Socialist ideology being melded into our society and he has also told me on several occasions that it is "too late" to accomplish any REAL change through the voting polls. I fear I must agree with him. Have no fear though, my fellow patriots, there are those of us that are willing to go to the mat for our country. Hard times are ahead of us. Whether they be brought on through the disintegration of our great nation or the war to get it back. Either way, hard times are ahead. So, prepare, prepare, prepare. Riots, property destruction, chaos, and death seen in Athens and other European cities shown on the television news is coming to America very soon
