CommentsThank you so very much for writing this article!Back in 2001 (A Space Odyssey), recognizing the possible demise of the Shuttle Program, a couple of engineers and myself started a non-profit to keep the Shuttle Program alive. Posted by H. Wayne Hall on 12/10 at 10:04 PM | # At least they didn't cut up the space shuttles and stuff the pieces into the back of a thousand rusted out pickup trucks..for the landfills. Watching the Space Shuttles being carted off on the back of a 747...made me sick. I've kept up with our space program since the first grade...waaaayyy back in 1960. X-15, Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab.. the unmanned moon landers..all of it. Saw extraordinary advances in technology & sciences. Cell phones, personal computers, micro-electronics...biomedical.. Now what do we have? Buy a $5.00 museum ticket to go see our past glory. Spend the money to go see the next Star Trek movie..that's as close as we are to a real manned space program... Posted by George fro Atlanta on 04/30 at 02:44 PM | # Great post. Hard to imagine why BO is trying to glorify the end of our manned space program. I'd like to correct one though thing which undoubtedly originated in the MSM: The shuttle Enterprise never went into space. It was a mock-up for approach and landing testing. To refit it for space would have been more expensive than building one from scratch. Posted by Blair on 04/29 at 03:06 PM | # Judi, More outstanding words. Thank you. "Even though Obama has worked for four years to beat down America and everything she stands for, there will always be patriots fighting back to keep America as the greatest nation on earth. No stick is big enough to beat down America." Indeed! "I'll die on their feet before living on their knees." Words from a quotation? Lyrics from a song? Yes, to both, but these words also hold place as cornerstone in American History. But how will this play out? Can America be righted to an even keel through the ballot box, or will it take a replay of April 19, 1775? Again, thank you for your words. Your clear-headed stance is always welcome fodder for this Ol' Vet. Posted by Bob B. on 04/29 at 01:18 PM | # Another great article, Judi! Someone once said if you want to destroy a country, destroy its memory. I shudder to think what it will be like if Obama gets another 4 years. Posted by redstate on 04/28 at 09:44 PM | # Dear Judi, Thank you for a very moving article. How very sad to see this once great, great nation -- the USof A, being demolished by this obamer and all his czars or whatever. Sad to read the comment from Huston reader, yes- they should have been the first to have had a Shuttle- or Orbiter- remember those great words- glued to the TV, Never again. Thanks again, Judi, between you and Mark Steyn, we can at least keep our spirits up. Audrey Posted by Audrey Smith on 04/28 at 07:34 PM | # American achievement has been "retired" by the Obama government, for all the world to see. They're wrong when they say, with Obama it's all about transfer of wealth. It's all about transfer of wealth, status, and identity. Posted by Beverly on 04/28 at 06:46 PM | # As sad as we all feel about the demise of the Shuttle (the correct term is Orbiter for the Shuttle is complete with the external tank and solid rocket boosters) we in Houston feel the harshest sting. Houston was not the recipient of one of the Shuttles. The first word spoken from the moon was Houston in "Houston, the Eagle has landed". The first word spoken from Apollo 13 was Houston in "Houston, we have a problem". The people at the NASA facility in Houston (Actually, it is in Clear Lake) worked tirelessly from the inception of space flight and throughout all of the Shuttle missions. They cheered all successes and mourned the losses. Houston was disrespected in the political decision making as to where the Orbiters would rest in peace. Regime's defining moment ![]() Those lucky enough to still be here to look back at history post Barack Obama will recognize the last sight-piggyback funeral dirge of the once noble Space Shuttle as the Obama Regime’s defining moment. Were an artist to paint a picture of a small boy looking at up at his flying kite as the space shuttle passed over Manhattan yesterday, no portrait of the story of America’s deliberate ruin at the hands of a single politician could ever come closer to the truth.
