CommentsDavid, You've written a good article on an issue which has rankled me ever since UNESCO voted to accept Palestine as a member.
I was unaware that UNECSO had absolutely no requirement for 'Statehood'.
I would have thought that, as an organ of the U.N., UNESCO would have had to comply with the primary criteria established by the parent Organization (The U.N.), for qualification of applicants.
This whole mess is an excellent example of world-wide behavior (including that of the USA, regarding the unjustified deference being shown to a group of terrorists....the rule seems to be: When in doubt about the "rights" and legitimacy of a nasty, war-mongering, faction of Arab peoples; lower the standards, and the rules of law (which are applicable to all OTHERS!), in order to accommodate them !
Such blatant dishonesty and partisanship in UNESCO is simply another reason why America must refrain from contributing to the U.N. and any of its affiliated agencies.
