CommentsDr. Paugh, Those who will not engage the enemy are of little concern., Yes, it would be handy if they were to join in this battle for the soul of America, but our survival as a valiant nation does not depend upon them.It has always been the minority of the populace which has seen the problem and addressed it to the best of their abilities and they have always been victorious because they base their conduct on Truth. At one time I thought the Obamanation was a curse, but in reality he is a blessing because many of the people who assumed that ABC, NBC, CBS and their local papers were news sources have come to the realization that those “sources” print and show all the "News" that fits their agenda. At one time FAR too many took politics for granted, and for the first time in their life some people are paying attention and some are actually reading this nation's founding documents and reading the words of the founders and coming to the realization that those "history" books they have been reading were nothing more than propaganda. The Obamanation has awakened ever so many. And MANY are getting into God's Word and studying it for themselves. If we prevail, God will once again bless this nation. I am rather selfish, so in the meantime, I shall continue to serve Him as best I know how and treasure the many blessings. A house divided against itself cannot stand. Sir Arthur Keith wrote in “Evolution and Ethics” that “nations” emerge from a primal family; which expands into a “clan”; into a “tribe”; and on into the “nations” that have filled the earth. Our esteemed jurists who chronologized the history of our Jurisprudence concur with this premise. Our Founders stated the recipe for this nation in the 2nd Federalist Paper: a society of kindred blood relatives descending from a common ancestor; professing the same religion; and speaking the same language. Keith postulates that every one of the 14 nations of Europe can trace their origins to a tribal unit in their history. Each “nation” is composed of blood relatives sharing the same gene pool and occupying a specific territory, both necessary incidents to the survival of the tribe. He postulates also that human sentiments and behavior are divided into two “codes”; an amity or ethical code; and an enmity or cosmic code. The former is a benevolent discipline administered within the family for the benefit and security of the unit. The later is a hostile malevolent sentiment directed at an aggressor from another tribal unit (nation), which will inflict injury or death upon anyone constituting a threat to a family member or the tribal territory. Its modern equivalent is “war”. There is truth to the adage “blood is thicker than water”. One's loyalty to his own “family” (nation) is stronger than a stranger's or even an “in-law”, those adopted into the host family after-the-fact. Diversity and multi-culturalism is a direct attack on patriotism, eroding the natural survival instinct of the ethical-code. Which flag will one having no blood connection to the host body politic support and defend in time of peril? Will he give his life for someone else's family? Political correctness is attempting to artificially suppress the “cosmic code” of survival. Keith writes that a “pacifistic” culture that will not defend itself will be enslaved by another still having access to its enmity-cosmic code of aggression unless defended by some stronger “tribe” also having recourse to its cosmic-code. The usual case has been that the “pacifist” tribe will be subjugated by its former benefactor when the original “enemy” has been disposed of. That's a great question and I happen to have my version of an answer, that you may or may not agree with. Past generations were more American than what we see today. We're multi-cultural, diverse and global citizens from sea to shining sea. There just isn't the love of country that was once an integral strength of our social fabric or construct, if you will. More concern for social justice is the rule of the day. These all are pretty much a given but the source of this dramatic shift to the left, I believe, is the growth industry of feminism. From the new face of the military, government growth for the benefit of those who do not serve, and in many cases even work to the demeaning and castigating of the men, it would seem to the casual observer of pop culture, TV, magazines, books, news, sit-coms, political commentary of all kinds that men just aren't that important anymore 'cause they're, you know, kinda stupid and all. I think after 40 years of this mantra, perhaps it is time for some to take notice that there are men who get this and are sort of just backing off the perceived "duty" of being a man. Responsibility and accountability for men, rights and privileges for women. Respectfully, it's getting old. Memorial Day is celebrated to remember the ultimate sacrifice made in defense of our freedom. Where is the new generation to take up the banner of liberty and to sacrifice for their country? “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” (Benjamin Franklin, Speech to the Pennsylvania Assembly, November 11, 1755) When I was young, measuring life’s curves and frustrations through the prism of serenity seemed like a wonderful idea. Would the source of my momentary ire and stress be important in five years? Following this simplistic advice, would anything matter in 100 years since every person alive at this moment will likely be dead?
