From a disillusioned Obama voter

I voted for President Obama in 2008 and, I am sorry to say that I am profoundly disappointed.

I was overjoyed with Obama as a candidate, he promised hope and change and a transformation that would be both unprecedented and a boon to the middle class and the oppressed. Our unjust wars would end, the economy would quickly rebound and unemployment, a Bush legacy, would be quickly rectified with stimulus and government intervention in both the private and public sector. Then, there was the promise of affordable healthcare for all which would drastically reduce insurance premiums. It was understood that foreclosures would be prevented through government intervention and, if necessary, we would receive aid should we have difficulty paying our bills.

Sadly, there is a vast chasm between Obama the candidate and Obama our President. The wars linger on; Gitmo flourishes; the economy is in the doldrums; unemployment is unacceptably high; healthcare is not what was promised, insurance premiums are rising; the SCOTUS may invalidate healthcare; energy costs and gas prices increase daily and our chosen President’s only solution is nonstop campaigning in his attempt to be reelected.

While it pains me greatly, I must agree with Obama when he said that “if I don’t have this turned around in three years that this will be a one term proposition”!

There is no hope and there was no positive change. My choices in 2012 is to either hold my nose and vote Republican or stay home on November 6, 2012.
