The Golden Goose of Capitalism
A Fairy Tale
- Guest Column By Debbie Curran Monday, May 7, 2012
There once was a country, founded on the principles of Democracy and Capitalism. They referred to Capitalism as their Golden Goose.
This goose laid golden eggs. These eggs were shared by everyone in the land. Those who cared for and fed the goose received a larger share, and those who performed lesser or no tasks received a smaller share, however, there were eggs for all!
And then, after 222 years of prosperity, an unknown stranger who was raised in another land became King by promising his subjects “hope” and “change”. This King did not come alone, no;
he brought with him two large, malevolent groups, called the Czars and the Regulators. These Czars and Regulators did not embrace Democracy or Capitalism and embarked on a course of action that would destroy both.
The King, with his sidekick named Tele Prompter ever in his view, praised the Czars and the Regulators and, through Executive Orders, paved their way.
The Czars and the Regulators put up endless barriers which prevented the proper care of the Golden Goose.
The goose became increasingly malnourished and near death.
Only you, in November, can save the Goose!
