Democrats Waging ‘Real’ War on Women

By now, you’ve probably heard that Republicans are waging a “war on women.”  More specifically, thanks to biased media coverage, many people are convinced that Republicans want to take away women’s contraceptive rights.  As usual, the press is obediently ignoring the actual story:  43 different Catholic organizations have filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration.  Now, I’m not Catholic, nor do I have any issues with contraception, so you may wonder why I would even mention the Catholic’s problems here.

It’s because I believe that this is important.  I believe that parents have the right to send their children to a school or university that instills morals and values as part of their education.  Catholic schools try to teach discipline, responsibility and self-worth.  They aren’t prohibiting contraception on their campuses (contraception is readily available, free, from many sources), but they are refusing to obey the new health-care law that requires them to provide it.

Parents and students are free to choose a liberal or public school if they disagree.  But supporters of President Obama’s health-care bill assume that individuals shouldn’t have this right to decide; or that no student, male or female, can be expected to make decisions without government intervention.  Maybe the Democrats assume that Hollywood and television show stereotypes are right; that any woman who chooses morality over popularity is just slow and naïve.  Maybe they believe Billy Joel when he sang “Catholic girls start much too late.”

Think about how young women are portrayed in the movies.  Think about Hollywood’s contest to win a chance to meet President Obama and Sarah Jessica Parker (of “Sex and the City” fame).  Watch the Obama campaign’s new web video “Letters to the President,” where a 6 year-old girl’s entire future depends on Obama-Care’s contraceptive mandate.

Then ask yourself, could it be that Democrats are waging a war against women?
