Federal Government’s Neglect

Here’s the predicament. The Supreme Court has upheld the Federal Government assertion that immigration is the business of the Feds. I don’t think this would have been an issue had
the folks in Washington protected our borders. It was their neglect of enforcement that necessitated Arizona taking action on the State level.

It is a partial win that law enforcement can ask immigration status if there is reasonable suspicion that a person may not be here legally. Add to the decision is the Executive order protecting young illegals from deportation and you have a pretty weak tool for Arizona officials. Neither the Court ruling or the Executive Order do anything to secure our borders, which was in main concern of the Arizona Governor and the American people.

So, we are faced with the reality that immigration and borders fall under the umbrella of the Federal Government. And that Government has no stomach for enforcing the laws. In fact, it appears to be determined to defy the voters who want the flood of illegals stopped immediately.

Stop the flow, then sit down and go to work on real reform. Oh, that will be hard? Too bad. Or maybe unpopular. Too bad. That is your job as leaders. Put on your big kid pants and do you job instead of bickering with the other children.
