The Bridge

Stephen Harper is being criticized for agreeing to pay the full shot for the proposed Windsor/Detroit bridge.

Considering that about 80% of Canada’s exports go to the U.S., mostly by truck, the bridge would be more important to Canada than to the US.  As I understand it, Canada would own the bridge and collect the tolls from both sides until it’s paid off.  Sounds like a good deal to me. Stephen Harper has his share of defects but I don’t think stupidity is one of them. I think, though, the new bridge should be restricted to commercial vehicles and buses only.
