People who question the use of graphic abortion pictures because of their effects on children and women may not have considered some important distinctions. We can console the child who feels remorse from seeing graphic abortion pictures, or when these are explained to him or her. However, the child who is killed by an abortion can never be reached with our words, nor with our touch. The unborn child has not only been hurt, but has had his or her very life taken away. We can comfort a woman who is reminded by such pictures of a miscarriage from the past. However, a woman who commits an abortion has done grave injury to her soul—whether she consciously acknowledges this or not. Doesn’t the concern for such a woman take precedence? The testimonies of women with ‘Silent No More’ Awareness Campaign and Canada Silent No More attest to the devastating effects of abortion. God holds earthly human life in such high regard that He forbids the murder of a human being; yet, on a relative basis, God values our eternal souls enormously more than our earthly lives.

Many women are grateful for having been shown graphic pictures of abortion because these shook their conscience into recognising the tragic choice that they had made, which then allowed them to seek forgiveness and healing. Although the emotional effects of showing graphic abortion pictures, as described, are of concern to pro-life demonstrators , the need for warning women before they commit an abortion overrides this (particularly with the lies about abortion being perpetrated by our present “culture of death”). It is hoped that a woman undergoing emotional pain from the past, which the pictures bring to mind, can find consolation in knowing that her cooperation and support can result in the salvation of another woman’s soul, and saving the life of a human being in the womb. Notably, the latter gives rise to the most compelling reason for showing graphic abortion pictures, which is that these pictures are conclusive EVIDENCE of the crime against humanity being committed through abortion.
