God Wants to get off the Platform

Just for fun, let’s wander around the Democratic platform a little bit.

Some members of the Democratic party had to fight to get God on their platform. It took several contentious and still questionable votes. I wonder how God felt about that. Perhaps He felt better being left out of a platform which defines killing babies as more than a right. Now, with Obamacare it is our mandate. It’s not that I don’t think a woman should have control over her own body, it’s just that I am one of those folks who consider impulse control to be the time when she exercises that option.

Yes, women get raped, but we both know that’s not what we are talking about. One can argue the validity of a fetus as a human being all you want, but in your heart of hearts, if it looks like a baby and sucks its thumb like a baby, has a heartbeat like a baby…even the most callous cynic has to face the facts. At some point,that’s a baby.

There will also be an argument that it is not fair that the woman has to be the one responsible for birth control. Seriously? If she is the one who is is able to choose life or choose NOT to give life, then yes, that responsibility is ultimately hers. If she was intelligent and caring enough to choose a partner who shares the responsibility, then kudos to her (and to him). But to judge the fairness of that situation puts us in a different discussion altogether.

For openers, I don’t believe in the concept of fair. Fair is a place where you go to hang blue ribbons on cows and eat cotton candy. Outside of that concept, fair has not existed for a long time, if it ever did. Fair died in Dachau, in the belly of the slave ships, the beaches of Normandy, in the jungles of Vietnam and in the gang neighborhoods. Fair dies with hope, but now we are being told, one is possible at the expense of the other. If a woman goes to a doctor and surgically terminates her baby’s life, it is a choice. If her husband beats her and through injury terminates that same baby’s life, he faces criminal charges. How does a moral society justify one and prosecute the other?

This brings us back to Obamacare. The logical conclusion is: a vote for Obama, is a vote for Obamacare and if you accept Obamacare you not only condone the killing of a generation who looks to you for protection, but you are paying for it. Every day of your life and just maybe, for all eternity.

If the silent majority has become synonymous with the moral majority, we are truly a morally bankrupt nation and in my opinion, unworthy to lead the free world. As leaders of the free world go, I can’t see that we have done all that much lately to save the Syrians from systematic extermination, or the Serbians, or the Sudanese. So much for the beacon of light for all the huddled masses. If you can scramble across our border, we will protect you, feed you, clothe, medicate and educate you. We will take from our own children to give to you. If you can’t sneak across our border, God help you. Seriously. God help you. He is the only one available. There is no one else. Truly, you are on your own.

So, yes, I think God was OK with being left off the Democratic platform. I get an insignificant trickle of hate mail telling me that Christianity is synonymous with the Democratic Socialism, but this abortion plank on this platform has to deeply sadden even the most loving and generous interpretation of God. I suppose He loves Democrats as He loves everybody else, it’s just that He has a lot more to forgive there. That’s why He is still the ultimate Judge. There still is a way out. Are you registered to vote? Remember, dead democrats do vote, early & often.  Save the republic and arguably, your very soul.
