Executive order; 2-year amnesty
The President Buying Votes
- Guest Column By Victoria Vaughn Friday, August 17, 2012
The American people and the United States Congress oppose amnesty for undocumented individuals. In defiance of the will of the Country, the President signed an Executive Order granting a 2-year amnesty to law abiding illegals under 30 years of age who came here before age 16. The long lines at registration centers across the nation show that the 800,000 who can benefit are showing up for their work permits.
The President has said this is not a solution, it is a temporary measure.
What the President did was to buy 800,000 votes and kick the can down the road until after the election.
How many of those individuals will have children during those 2 years? Can you say anchor babies? How many citizens will remain unemployed because of this order? How much money will the taxpayer shell out in social services?
While it isn’t politically correct to oppose amnesty and the solutions are obviously difficult, the delaying tactics and transparent Executive Orders are not doing the country any favors. The winner in this is one person-the President and his reelection bid.
