A threat to our liberty if placed under the control of a corrupt administration

“Smart” Meters

I have researched “smart meters” and find that despite much rhetoric to the contrary, in and of themselves, they pose no threat to the public.

Having said that, these meters are a threat to our liberty if placed under the control of a corrupt administration. I would define corrupt as one which has disdain for both our Constitution and our three coequal branches of government.

These meters report usage every 15 minutes, providing the ability to adjust rates on a ‘time of day’ basis and contain switch gear that can automatically disconnect power based on arbitrary, preset, parameters which would activate a “service limiter feature”. Both features are ripe for abuse.

If we accept these facts, it becomes obvious that we should not be investing time and energy in opposing meters, but should focus on and redouble our efforts in defeating those who would misuse the meter’s capability.

This brings to mind the Eastern Airlines L1011 that crashed in the Everglades when the entire flight crew focused their attention on a burned out bulb and missed the fact that no one was flying the plane.

If we obsess on the meters and neglect addressing the issue of removing those who would misuse these meters, we will fail in our objective.

Flight 401 crashed when the crew focused in the picayune and ignored the plight of their airship.

Our ship of state faces a similar plight unless and until we see beyond the minutia, and we address the obvious.
