Democratic National Convention, Obama, Mount Rushmore

The Sand Man Cometh

Obama the Sandman CFP Photoshop by Brian ThompsonThe Obama Campaign Team, who went from what looked like a 2008 Greek Temple to a sand sculpture of Obama in an imitation of Mount Rushmore, thought they were being one upmanship-cute, but unwittingly delivered the Other Side a big favour. And not just because the bottom of the sand bust of Obama that will greet delegates to the Democratic National Convention (DNC) was washed away by Saturday rains and had to be last-minute repaired. “A torrential downpour that struck Charlotte on Saturday afternoon damaged the Mount Rushmore-style sand sculpture bust of President Obama--an ominous beginning to what many fear is a plagued convention.” (Washington Times, Sept. 1, 2012) “Workers were trying Saturday afternoon to reform the base of the sculpture, built from sand brought in from Myrtle Beach, S.C., pounding and smoothing out the sand that had washed off the facade of the waist-up rendering of the chief executive.”
The rainstorm was so strong that its heavy winds blew the rain sideways, pelting the president’s right side and leaving the sand pockmarked and completely erasing his right elbow. Even the rain seems to know that Obama has no right side. The idea of workmen having to work furiously to restore Obama’s sand sculpture even as those intoning Jumah prayers were making the bold claim that the Muslims and not Columbus discovered America, is downright laughable. Only the conceit of Obama would approve a mammoth sand sculpture of himself, erected at the EpiCentre entertainment complex at the DNC. Only Obama would pictorially insert himself at Mount Rushmore and compete with the Statue of Liberty in an icon made from 15 tons of sand that had to be truckled in from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Obama compared last week’s Republican National Convention (RNC) to watching black and white television. His coming out at the DNC can be likened to technicolor nightmares. In a rocky start to the 2012 DNC, Obama, the Sand Man, was already falling apart. But for all those hoping for real change on November 6, it gets even better: The unintended message Obama’s sand sculpture sends out to patriot masses is that “time is running out”. Stories of the sand sculpture of Obama about which a Citizen Journalist says “Even the smile is creepy” could be set to the beautiful lyrics of Roy Orbison’s song “In Dreams” which some folk use as the ringtones on their cells.

Dreams Lyrics

“A candy-colored clown they call the sandman Tiptoes to my room every night Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper: "Go to sleep, everything is alright"
But we know we can’t go to sleep because everything is not alright. The stardust sprinkled by Obama is pushing America into deep decline. The Sandman cometh, starting today. When you brush away the sand, the symbolism of the DNC is all they’ve got. It’s the same Hollywood bunk that tried to introduce a ‘Messiah’ from what looked like a Greek Temple back in 2008, now trying to place Obama in Mount Rushmore all the way from Charlotte, NC. Time to get out the garden hose and wash Barack Hussein Obama away.
