Someone recently sent me an email in which she called Obama a "
snollygoster." I have a pretty extensive vocabulary, but that was a new one on me. I looked up its meaning, and thought to myself, "That word should have any dust brushed off of it, and be put back into circulation again."
A
snollygoster, it turns out, is: "
Someone, especially a politician, who is guided by personal advantage rather than by consistent, respectable principles. A 'carpetbagger,' a swindler." Reportedly, the last nationally recognized figure to use the term in public was President Harry S. Truman.
"We the people" are up to our necks in lying, cheating, back-stabbing snollygosters, and it is way past time that we admitted as much--and did something about it. As
professor Petras observes in this article's opening quote, nowadays criminals are considered respectable, and respectable citizens are treated as criminals.
Trillion-dollar tax-evaders, billionaire financial swindlers and multi-billionaire money launderers
He writes in his article that "Trillion-dollar tax-evaders, billionaire financial swindlers and multi-billionaire money launderers are almost never sent to jail. ...Recidivism among financial criminals is rife because the penalties are so light, the profits are so high, and the investigations are infrequent, superficial, and inconsequential." Crime, it turns out,
does pay, and does it ever.
When snollygosters bother being concerned with the law, they are strictly concerned with what is
legal; not with what is
ethical, or
principled. Ethics and principles are for chumps--such as "we the people," the people being
fleeced. Are
you a chump? If you are meekly allowing yourself to be fleeced, then you are indeed a chump. Not to worry, you have plenty of company.
When snollygosters decide, for whatever reason, to stay within the boundaries of the law --
who made those laws? That's right; snollygosters. And who adjudicates those laws? That's right--snollygoster lawyers and judges. And who is the watchdog that is supposed to keep us informed about such goings on?
The Snollygoster Press of course -- whose cozy collusion with big government is now a standing joke. It is a closed-loop system of brightly grinning criminals glibly dishing out bulls--t while they pick our pockets. That is not hyperbole folks--it is simply the way things are.
As Bob Dylan once observed, "Steal a little and they put you in jail; steal a lot and they make you king." People continue to turn from the paleomedia (formerly known as the "mainstream media" or MSM), and increasingly get their news from various sources on the Internet and radio. The paleomedia has
lost its "street cred" -- and it will not be getting it back anytime soon.
The snollygoster media's history of spin, lies, and disinformation is on record for all to see--for those who care to look. Most recently, "we the people" were treated to sincere-sounding talking heads explaining how a fourth-rate movie trailer was to blame for the "riots" in Libya--and don't get me started on their
misleading reportage about the latest "
polls" for the
Presidential race.
Too late, I'm already off and running. The polls are so obviously skewed, slanted, and misleading that it is insulting to read them or listen to them. A Las Vegas "odds maker" recently wrote an article titled "
Las Vegas has Romney in the Lead," in which he observed, "Is there one major group where Obama has gained since 2008? Will anyone in America wake up on election day saying, I didn't vote for Obama 4 years ago, but he's done such a fantastic job, I can't wait to vote for him today?"
Will Obama keep the huge majority among black voters that he enjoyed in 2008 (95%)? The huge unemployment rate among
black youth (almost 40% as of last July), and the blow-back by black preachers opposed to
Obama's endorsement of homosexuality tells me no, no he will not. He will still enjoy a large majority of the black vote, but not as large as it was in 2008.
Given Obama's track record with Israel and his coziness with the Muslim Brotherhood do you think that Obama will enjoy the same enthusiastic support from
American Jews that he enjoyed in 2008? The Obama Administration is being sued by the Catholic Church--do you think that Obama will retain the same degree of support among
Catholics that he had in 2008? Many of the
young people, who supported Obama so passionately four years ago, have since graduated into "the job market from hell." Do you think that they will be as passionately pro-Obama, and turn out in numbers comparable to 2008? Now that they have had four years to judge what they bought, do you think that
Independent voters will swing toward Obama like so many did in 2008? No, no, no -- and no.
I could go on in this vein, of course, but I think I have made my point. So where are the pollsters and pundits coming up with this narrative about it being a "neck and neck, down to the finish" race between Obama and Romney? Personally, I believe that they are pulling it out of their butts, but for the sake of decorum, I will surmise that they are basing their "guesstimates" using data gleaned from the
2008 election -- data that is no longer relevant; data that erroneously skews the results in favor of Obama.
Do I mean to imply that Romney is a shoe-in? Absolutely not! My advice is (as they say in Chicago) "Vote early, and vote often." Just kidding about the "often" part, but I could not be more serious about the need for "we the people" to get out there and
vote. Vote as if your life depended on it--because it very well might.
And please do not make the mistake of thinking that November 6 is only about the Presidential race. There are amendments to vote on, judges to kick out, judges to vote in, state legislatures to install, and so on.
It is vital that "we the people" learn the ins and outs of what we will be voting on in our individual regions of influence November 6. We must do our best to see that
patriotic constitutionalists get sworn into as many positions of power as possible. We simply must give the snollygosters the boot whenever, and wherever, we can. Truly a revolution is at hand. Whether it will be a slow burning one or an explosive one only time will tell. In any event, "we the people" will need the assistance of the divine hand of Providence.
Even if you need to grit your teeth, vote for the Romney/Ryan ticket (I was a Ron Paul supporter for crying out loud, yet I now support Romney/Ryan unhesitatingly)--and please do not neglect to pay attention to all of the other races and issues up for grabs on Election Day.
We owe a bright and promising future to yet unborn generations of Americans. And to honor the memory of past patriots who carried
the torch of liberty during their time on the wall, the flame of freedom must not be allowed to go out on our watch.
