While two prominent Australian politicians, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie and unelected official eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant were calling for the arrest of X social media CEO Elon Musk for refusing to take down footage of the ‘alleged’ stabbings at Christ The Good Shepard Church in Sydney, the Australian counterterrorism force arrested seven male teenagers who reportedly have links to the 16-year-old charged with stabbing Assyrian Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel.

Online news about the April 15 horrific stabbing caught in a livestream from the church has been noticeably scant. In fact, until the beloved bishop himself gave an update on his health, on April 18, his fate and survival remained largely unknown to a worried world.

“…I am doing fine, recovering very quickly... there is no need to be worried or concerned," Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel later said in an audio message posted on social media, his first public comments since the attack. "I forgive whoever has done this act... I will always pray for you and whoever sent you to do this, I forgive them as well."

The wounded bishop also advised all of his followers to become “Christ-Like” in the aftermath of the horrific attack.

It was also Christ The Good Shepherd Church that released the news about the ultimate apprehension of the seven male teens by the Australian counterterrorism force, as Fox News openly credited Christ The Good Shepherd Church for the news.

“Police say the teens, who are associates of the young attacker who targeted bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel on April 15 at the Assyrian Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, pose an "unacceptable risk" to society and allegedly are involved in a religiously motivated extremist ideology, according to Reuters.

"I can assure the community there is no ongoing threat to the community, and the action we have taken today has mitigated any risk of future or further harm," the news agency quoted New South Wales Police Deputy Commissioner David Hudson as saying. (Fox News)
“The 16-year-old who has been detained in the wake of the stabbing is now facing a terrorism charge.
"Seven people have been arrested after 13 warrants were executed in Sydney and Goulburn today, as the Joint Counter Terrorism Team Sydney continues to investigate an alleged stabbing at a Wakeley church," NSW Police said in a statement Wednesday.

"About 11.15am today, investigators executed 13 search warrants across a number of suburbs in Sydney including Bankstown, Prestons, Casula, Lurnea, Rydalmere, Greenacre, Strathfield, Chester Hill, and Punchbowl, as well as a premises in Goulburn," police added. "The operation involved more than 400 police."

“Officials say seven juvenile males were arrested in the operation and another five people, including two adult males, are being questioned.
"A number of items have also been seized as a result of today’s activity, including a significant amount of electronic material. Operational activity remains ongoing," NSW Police also said.
“Authorities previously have described the assault on the bishop as a "terrorist incident.
“Bishop Emmanuel, who was injured in the attack, is the leader of a conservative sect of the Assyrian Orthodox faith. He has a strong social media following and is outspoken on a range of issues, including the war in Gaza and COVID-19 restrictions, according to Reuters.”

However the dominant news out of Australia is about two politicians and an unelected official howling for the hide of Elon Musk:

“Australia’s prime minister has labelled X’s owner, Elon Musk, an “arrogant billionaire who thinks he is above the law” as the rift deepens between Australia and the tech platform over the removal of videos of a violent stabbing in a Sydney church. (The Guardian, April 23, 2024)

“On Monday evening in an urgent last-minute federal court hearing, the court ordered a two-day injunction against X to hide posts globally containing the footage of the alleged stabbing of Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel on 15 April. The eSafety commissioner had previously directed X to remove the posts, but X had only blocked them from access in Australia pending a legal challenge.
Anthony Albanese on Tuesday said Musk was “a bloke who’s chosen ego and showing violence over common sense”.
“Australians will shake their head when they think that this billionaire is prepared to go to court fighting for the right to sow division and to show violent videos,” he told Sky News. “He is in social media, but he has a social responsibility in order to have that social licence.”
He told the ABC that Musk was “an arrogant billionaire who thinks he is above the law”.
“What the eSafety commissioner is doing is doing her job to protect the interests of Australians. And the idea that someone would go to court for the right to put up violent content on a platform shows how out of touch Mr Musk is,” he said.
“On Tuesday morning, Musk tweeted that the company was concerned that if “ANY country is allowed to censor content for ALL countries, which is what the Australian ‘eSafety Commissar’ is demanding, then what is to stop any country from controlling the entire Internet?”

“We have already censored the content in question for Australia, pending legal appeal, and it is stored only on servers in the USA.”
"Overnight Australian time, Musk tweeted a meme claiming that X represented the “truth” and “free speech while other platforms were censoring content” and “propaganda”, and added “don’t take my word for it, just ask the Australian PM!” (Guardian)
“X had withheld access to the tweets for Australian users but Christopher Tran, the barrister for the eSafety commissioner, argued this did not represent removal of the posts that were deemed to be “class 1” content under Australian classification law – that is, material deemed to depict “gratuitous or offensive violence with a high degree of impact or detail”. This was because the posts were still available outside Australia, and to Australian users accessing X using a virtual private network (VPN).
“On Monday night, a spokesperson for the eSafety commissioner said Meta, Google, Microsoft, Snap and TikTok had worked to remove similar content in the past weeks, and eSafety “will continue to use its suite of powers under the Online Safety Act to protect Australians from serious online harms, including extreme violent content”.
“The spokesperson said eSafety will seek a permanent injunction and civil penalties against X.
Independent senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie deleted her X account on Tuesday, telling Sky News that politicians must lead by example.
“I don’t give a stuff about the platform – I am happy to go off the platform today,” she said.
“I suggest that the other 226 ... members of parliament do the same thing and show them that you mean business. When you want to lead by example, it has to happen from here.”

Hypocritically, the same Aussie politicians attacking Musk and X are not innocent of online unhinged rants themselves.

The covid rant and the Elon Musk rants of Jacqui Lambie, still online can be seen here below.

Meanwhile, PM Anthony Albanese, Senator Jacqui Lambie and eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant should be told that terrorism is real; that you cannot possibly unsee what you have already seen online. It is high time for this trio to get out of the digital world and wake up to harsh reality.
