The other day I heard a politician quote that old saw: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.”
Like many aphorisms, this one is truly stupid. Derogatory Names can indeed hurt. Hurt deeply. Hurt permanently. Broken bones can often heal a lot quicker than hurt feelings.
