Nature, God’s creation and Pagans

Re: Green pagans find way to White House funding and Dancing Druids

I was appalled by your article “Green Pagans Find Way to White House Funding”. You seem utterly disgusted by any concerns or considerations for nature, God’s creation, and that, coming from a “religious” person, is mind-boggling.

As a person of faith, my question to you is, why do some Christians hate God’s creation with such a vengeance? Why is nothing on earth considered worthy except the human being to so many people who profess to believe in God? (In my view, that is actually a tenant of religious humanism and does not reflect any true allegiance to God the Creator and His marvelous works, and it is the absolute height of human arrogance.) The vehement hatred with which many Christians view the natural world is beyond me. You can’t have it both ways… either God created the world in His wisdom and it is therefore worthy of some consideration, or else you don’t believe in God as Creator of the universe. Which is it?

The current earth-bashing by many conservative Christians sets the stage for justifying the destruction of the last remnants of God’s gorgeous masterpiece for short-term profits. Be careful not to fall into the trap of thinking that because pagans appreciate this lovely and fragile planet, it has no intrinsic value. If you do, you are in fact denigrating the God you profess to believe in, the Creator of All Things, and in your own small way contributing to the final obliteration of all the beauty and complexity of His grand vision.
